Meet Bryce Lennon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bryce Lennon.

Bryce, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Born and raised in South Jersey, I was exposed to the world of fashion and technology at an early age. Through the fashion expertise of his older sister, my wardrobe was more advanced than any other child. I recall wearing geometric prints, overalls, neckties, cardigans, and sweatshirts early in life. This laid the foundation for my understanding of fashion and personal style today!

My love for blogging came at a time when academia ruled my existence. In graduate school, most of my free time was spent between social media and the library. Platforms like Facebook and Twitter were my main expressive outlets, and I utilized both platforms to showcase my weekly fashion inspiration and personal style. My personal style became more recognized over time. For instance, some of my female followers used my photos as style inspiration for their boyfriends.

Once I completed my studies in graduate school, I moved back home and became more successful in my professional role. The sacrifice? Most of my personal interests took a back burner. After a couple of years of working, I decided to reevaluate my priorities and focus more on fashion and personal style. Then, it hit me,“ Bryce, you should create a fashion blog!”

Shortly after this revelation, I purchased my first camera and created UnegisteredStyle.com in 2013. As my first blog, UnregisteredStyle serves as a personal style reference that highlights fashion, trends, brands, and advice. A few years later, I decided to get a little more intimate with BryceLennon.com. This blog serves as a creative space for everything fashion, music, and lifestyle-related. I still manage both blogs today!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My road to success has been a little windy along the way. For starters, I didn’t consider the lack of racial diversity within the blogging community. Back in 2013, I was very interested in joining some popular fashion affiliate networks to help redirect traffic to my blog content. After receiving quite a few rejection emails, I began to notice that many of these networks have a preference. They accept the influencers or bloggers with a large social media following. In addition, most of their members do not look like me. The push for diversity was not there in 2013.

Although this was discouraging at times, I used this setback as an opportunity to grow. In order to grow my social media following even further, I began working with smaller startup brands and attending local events. The end goal was to get my brand out there. As my social media presence began to increase, other opportunities presented themselves. Seven years later, those same affiliate programs have since reached out to me for membership. I have yet to accept any of their offers.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
Although BryceLennon.com and UnregisteredStyle.com are known as separate entities, they have both grown together over time. While Bryce Lennon originally intended to discuss my random, personal adventures, it has become more of a lifestyle brand in itself. On a weekly basis, I cover my random retail escapades, product reviews, and thought-provoking think pieces. This creates more of a personal connection between my readers and I.

In contrast, UnregisteredStyle was meant to showcase personal style from a street perspective. Since then, it has developed into a creative space to promote fashion-related businesses and brands. I went from one post a week with only a couple of images to three posts and more content across the board. Beyond both blogs, I have received a variety of opportunities to attend and host fashion shows, guest blog, style for a television talk show, and receive credit for published work.

What were you like growing up?
As mentioned previously, I’ve always been into fashion. I had the gift of matching and coordinating at an early age. On the flip side, my personality was a little contentious at times. As my family recalls, I was one of those do it yourself type of kids. I came from two very helpful and accommodating parents, that found self-fulfillment in helping others. More specifically, supporting their children.

Ironically, I was not the type of child to receive help from anyone. No exceptions! This “do it all by myself” attitude added a hint of stubbornness to my already layered personality. Luckily, I began to learn from my mistakes, and my stubborn ways became more reasonable. As I matured, I found the value in asking for help. It’s okay to be vulnerable sometimes.
