Today we’d like to introduce you to Bubba Fulcher from Kid Explorer.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Bubba. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
We’re basically a family creative agency. Our entire family contributes to the secret sauce of Kid Explorer. My wife, Elizabeth, and I have three kids, Elijah(12), Olivia(10), and Caleb(7). Elizabeth has a master’s degree in education and is a former elementary school teacher who now homeschools our three wildly creative, smart, amazing kids! I’m an Atlanta-based filmmaker who leads the Video Production team for Booster, the top elementary school fundraising company in the nation. I’ve worked with them for almost a decade now and they are an incredible company through and through. My specialty is creating high-quality content specifically for kids. As parents, we monitor the content our kids watch online. We quickly realized that the number of YouTube channels that we have to say they cannot watch is insanely disproportionate to the channels that we feel provide quality content for kids. So we decided, let’s create THAT channel for our kids, and give every parent out there, like us, peace of mind that our content will entertain their kids while adding value to their lives. And so, our 4th child was born, named Kid Explorer!
Has it been a smooth road?
Our biggest hurdle is maintaining a consistent output of content while maintaining a high level of quality throughout all of the videos we create. We have way more ideas than we have the ability to execute. Creating shows and videos takes time, and we don’t want to put out bad content just because we feel like we have to post often. Ideally, we want to expand our team, bring on more talent and have more resources to broaden our reach. Doing so would allow us to put out more content on a regular, more scheduled basis, very similar to TV shows. People get used to a certain show they like, and they know what day and time that show airs. We want to create that same expectation for our shows while keeping our viewers tuned in and anticipating new shows.

Kid Explorer is a media platform made for kids by kids! We make learning fun and easy to understand through our unique style of creating videos.
What sets us apart is that our production value is as good as the best content creators out there, but our subject matter is wholesome and teaches kids to explore, discover, and create. Most educational content for kids that exists lacks quality and is often driven by boring adults. We are the solution to that! Our content is informative, entertaining, and driven by kids. That’s another unique factor that kids drive the narrative, not adults. Kids relate to kids and that allows our kid talent to create specifically for their audience. A common side effect is that most adults end up learning from our content, too. At least, I know I do!
I’m most proud of the fact that our entire family is bought in and works together to make this. If nothing ever came from what we create, in terms of “business success”, we’ll always have this unique experience as a family and never regret pursuing it! A true gift!
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think Atlanta is the perfect place for any production company or filmmaker. It’s a production hotbed, but it’s also incredibly versatile in what it offers. There are so many types of shows and concepts you can create in and around Atlanta. As a filmmaker, the key to starting out is making yourself undeniably valuable to whoever you work for when you get an opportunity to work. You need to be relentless in creating value for every project you are on! IF you do that, you will be hired consistently! Get your reps in and create constantly! If your work doesn’t provide you enough of an outlet to fill your creative bucket, find ways to create in your personal time. You get better through repetition.
