Today we’d like to introduce you to Dash McIntosh.
Dash, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Any creative stuck in a box can relate to my story. I went to school for fashion and then biochemistry, landed a job with the DC government and was unhappy. I loved the money and the position but something was missing. I started off branding myself as a “brand manager,” doing whatever it took to add my creative sense into whoever would give me a shot. I was doing logo work, websites, photoshoots and video work to express my creativity. Photography stood out to me the most I found something that I loved and have complete creative control. I got a light set for Christmas and starting shooting completely lost on what I was doing, but youtube became the best teacher. I was a jack of all trades and a master of none until I set out to master photography and my journey is just beginning.
Has it been a smooth road?
My journey was fairly smooth, I surrounded myself with great mentors and I’m such a self-motivator that I’m constantly evolving. I had one obstacle that almost deterred me from shooting. My home was burglarized and all my equipment and computers were stolen a couple of days before going on tour with K Michelle. Through prayer and a very strong network, I was able to buy new equipment and rent others until I was able to replace them.
What’s your outlook for the industry in our city?
I think Atlanta is a great starting point for anyone looking to get into any entertainment field. With the Hollywood scene and so many influential people moving to Atlanta it’s the perfect place to master your craft.
