Meet Buckhead Tattoo Artist: Rick Rayne

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rick Rayne.

Rick, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am an artist that was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan. A town north of Detroit. With 11 years of tattooing under my belt, I have become a very diverse artist capable of tattooing many styles including realism, black and gray, and illustrative new school. After moving to the Atlanta area in the spring of 2014, he has become even more driven than ever to produce the best quality tattoos possible.

Has it been a smooth road?
Unfortunately no, tattooing has brought a lot of good into my life and given me a career I enjoy. that being said, it has been a long road with lots of trials and error. It seems to be a never-ending learning process.

What is the most difficult part of what you do?
They’re many aspects of my job that are incredibly difficult, so to pick just one is near impossible. Everything from the actual process of applying the tattoo, the drawing of the design, and more often than you would think, just working with particular clients who don’t fully understand the timer and effort I put into this. It’s a never-ending job where we don’t actually get to clock out at the end of the day, it follows you home. But it’s also very hard for the family as well, which is probably the hardest part for me.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Well, I’ve learned just recently that success can only truly be defined by the individual. What’s successful to some, just isn’t enough to others. I believe success is happiness. Cut and dry. If you have for something if life that makes you happy then you have succeeded. Life isn’t about how many hours of work you put in, in fact, it’s better to work smart, not hard . If you have a roof over your head, food in your belly, and smiles all around you, you are more successful there you know. As far as my craft goes. Never stop learning, or pushing on to bigger better projects that test you. By step out of our comfort zone and being put into stress we can learn and grow.

So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
As of now, building a solid clientele base in and around the Atlanta area. U really live it here and plan on being here for some time. Maybe even a private studio in the distant future. That way I can spend more time with my family

Pricing:

  • I usually tattoo at an hourly rate of $15o per hr. I feel this keeps it fair to all clients as no one is receiving a better deal and such.
