Today we’d like to introduce you to Cacey Steinhauer.
Cacey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Shortly after I decided to leave the corporate world and stay at home with my children my husband Trent found the vintage camper (“Rosie” a 1967 Shasta) and that is how our little traveling photo business began. We have been in business for a little over two years now with over 50 events each year. Recently we expanded our services to design and décor. I have loved seeing all the different wedding styles we have had the opportunity to be a part of and enjoy adding a personal touch to the exterior of the camper to complement each event. My passion is the design and decorating part of the business and in September of 2019, I was given the opportunity of my dreams. I was hired to design and decorate the Fall and Holiday décor at the new outdoor mall in Forsyth – Halcyon.
Has it been a smooth road?
Absolutely not! I think with any new business you have to hit bumps in the road and this has been no exception. I’m pretty sure our first year it rained at 70% of our events and considering we can not just pull inside most venues it made for a creative year. The photo booth itself has a lot of technology involved and that has been a HUGE learning experience. Just when I think we have it down, they come out with some new features we have to learn. Now that we are a few years in we have learned a lot and I feel that we can adjust to the obstacles that arise at an event. However, even with all the obstacles we have had an easy time getting bookings which I thought would be the hard part. It has all been worth it at the end of the day!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Atlanta Photo Camper story. Tell us more about the business.
Atlanta Photo Camper started as a traveling vintage camper that has a photo booth set up on the inside. On the inside, we have all your typical photo booth equipment but we stand apart from the typical photo booth because we bring an actual camper to your event. My goal is that we add a personal touch to each event we do by decorating the exterior and interior to blend with your theme or color scheme. We have a selection of backdrops and props that we bring to each event along with a custom photo strip that we create. We are not focused just on the wedding industry either. We have done many corporate events, birthday and graduation parties, school functions, festivals and religious events to name a few. Most recently, we added the design and décor which includes corporate décor, home remodel/interior design and event design/decorating.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Right now, photo booths are a big trend but who knows how long that will last. We are loving the business now on that side but with the added opportunity of design and decorating, I see our company having the ability to shift in that direction completely if the photo booth industry fades out.
