Meet Caden Harris of Daddy Did You Know? in Stone Mountain

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caden Harris.

Caden, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The birth of Daddy Did You Know began as I started to research and learn new things on my own. When I learned these new things, I would excitedly run to my Dad to ask him if he knew the facts that I had just learn. Each time I always began my sentence with Daddy Did You Know?……If Daddy didn’t know, I felt it was my responsibility to teach him. I created Youtube tutorials on s.t.e.m projects; I also have signature bookmarks, financial flashcards as well as unique light bulb cups that can be purchased empty as a drink cup or filled with candy. With these cups, the light bulb represents an idea and the candy represents all of your ideas. I also have an activity book coming out in October that teaches kids about finances. Kids will learn things about banking, like how to write a check. I included some of my business owner friends in the activity book too. They have coloring pages inside telling about their businesses, which has a lot to do with finances. My buddy Mikey has a vending machine business, Shamar has apparel, Xavier and Zori make soap. I have kid chefs Nigel and Shane, Uri’s business is called Nazkidz. There are just so many amazing kids every parent and kid should read it. Recently I appeared on Fox 5 filming four episodes of Atlanta’s Best New Homes as I talked about mortgage dos and don’t. That came as a big surprise. I love my parents I realize that all of my success would not have came without the help of my parents. They taught me everything I know!

Has it been a smooth road?
The road hasn’t been smooth. One of my biggest challenges was talking in front of large crowds and adults. I’m overcoming that by attending a toastmaster speaking class. I actually really like going, its an all kids class we have a lot of fun. Another challenge I had was a day that I had a vending event. I had a fever that day and I was itching all over but I was already there, so I knew I had to persevere. Later I found out that I had hand foot and mouth disease but the silver lining was that I acquired a tv deal from that very same event. So pressing through the pain paid off and I’m happy that I did.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Daddy Did You Know? story. Tell us more about the business.
I teach kids about financial literacy through my Youtube tutorials and flashcards. I’m most known for my flashcards. I have 3 set so far, on banking, real estate and mortgage do’s and don’ts. I am most proud of teaching kids about financial literacy at a young age so that when they are adults, they will have a head start. What sets me apart from others is that my business is for a kid by a kid with my unique touch.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see my business taking my products in stores, more collaborations and I would love to be on the cover of Scholastic magazine.
