Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Hoe.
So, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Rhythm and the ability to dance, rap, and sing have shown to be qualities bestowed upon me since the earliest moments of my encounters with music. As a child, prior to even understanding the talent and passion within me, I would be intensely into whatever music I was dancing to or reiterating, proving myself to be a performer prior to my notice. Coming from a large family, six sisters and two brothers, they often urged me on to let loose and be free, allowing my skills to showcase themselves until it grew into who I naturally was. Music was always pivotal for my joy, and apart of my being, where it communicated to a feeling in my mind and body still barely explainable. It never occurred to me to restrain these feelings, but to express them fully in a fashion it was enjoyable for all to see. Even with it putting me in my own world. Rapping became more accessible as my knowledge grew, and with time writing my own songs ignited a flame of passion that fills a large part of my existence. All learned by ear, with no technical understanding of even counting bars within beats or verses, it became a new alleyway to explore, which is truly an infinite creative outlet.
Still, to this day, it has a hold on me, and the process of writing music I alone fell in love with as early as third grade. You can never stop getting better or combining new ideas and old thoughts, making it so interpersonal to each artist. High school and my closest friends within E-World, clarified on an even grander scale, that there was truly a gift within me. Of our group, I was not the first to fall in love with the process of being an artist and making music, which left me with references on how to better my ability. Each of us whom the world will know has prided ourselves in making great music unlike any others and having the most fun as possible while creating art because it is who we are. It’s like our hearts beat through family and music by themselves. This passion that grew powerfully through high school, carried right over to college, where I wasted a year of schooling at Georgia Southern by the overwhelming feeling to create music. Thanks to a genius producer and engineer, named Juice Supreme, recording day in and day out on his equipment, allowed me to make my beloved mixtape, *Back To The Future*. And it’s success and feedback from people back home, the college and even places unexpected solidified for me this was life’s calling. All because I truly fell in love with the fun of it. Life has begun to revolve around these two intertwining facets of life, which can be accredited to the core of our group. The internal, more descriptive details of how we’ve nurtured our sounds and skill will reveal themselves as we plow through our careers, with grace, humility, and a humble nature we plan to breach people’s hearts and minds with until it’s felt in their body, allowing the rhythms to take over. There will be many names to be enlisted in the credits of our success, so here I’d like to thank early my family , Kris, Kyle, Donnie, Will, Ian, Cedarius, Steezo, Nick, Preston, Chass, and Tubbs to name a few, on being the first to push me in the right direction . It is all just beginning.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been fairly difficult mentally. To appear as who you say you are plus what you aspire to take realizations and experiences capable of exposing your true potential. I’ve known long and well, if you’re going to do something, you have to just go and believe in yourself, which in turn creates the outcomes you envision before anything even takes place. Learning to control my fast-paced mind and introspective way of thinking, has been to this day the most difficult aspect of my life. God has blessed me with a tight-knit, understanding, diverse personality-driven family, all expressive in their nature, which makes all things more enjoyable. A roof over our heads and given necessities provided enough reason for me to never complain as my parents have paved enough a way we could all thrive in our respective natures. Manifesting a future in which we all can freely and without stress live, I know starts with the mind and action of at least one, so mustering up all the courage, patience, and understanding of myself and the world around has been most trying. No physical outlet can any longer hinder me from following this dream, unless I became physically disabled or God himself spoke to me, rearranging this path. So the road could be a lot worse, considering the realities people are forced to face every day, and/or faced in the past. Self-growth, to ensure everyone else can reap the fruits of this life, is the primary battle I face, feeling in my spirit and being everyone can be at greater peace with the ways and motions of life, ultimately fueling a greater future. The road I’m sure will get a lot bumpier before it smoothens, but struggles make the woman or man. There will be no excuses or complaints along the way. The only prayer that first my family, friends and the world remain in a healthy place, alive and well, so our faith grows stronger and we are prepared for all to come.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am Galepsy, an independent artist molded from all musicians before me. All music I create is composed and written by me, relating to my experience or what I have seen, and all made with the intention on voicing the truths of our world and spreading peace and love, and happiness. I specialize in long-winded, meaningful verses, which is where I initially found pace in my own flow of music, and reminds me of every new song, “Do it your way”. To say what needs to be said, in the coolest, most unimaginable way possible in the simplest form, is how I structure my thinking process alone. I love to try things, and I have deep confidence and depth of emotions that allows for many different pieces that I know any and every person could feel. What sets me apart is an assurance of myself. To know I am nothing but everything at the same time proves to me I am all capable of appealing to the world with my music while being completely ready even at this moment for being one of the biggest artists ever heard. I value substance, and intrinsic music that can envelop many different meanings and feelings with every listen specified to the listener. Even within the fun, more regulatory music we find today. And my heart and character alone prove to bring others together, so I hope to be all I can for those around me. I am most proud so far, of my debut project labeled as a mixtape, Back To The Future, because it showed me I can do this. I promote positivity and being a light in the darkness. Open-mindedness and freedom. Togetherness from individual and originality. I want to be a vessel of creation and prove to everyone alike, we are here for a reason and purpose, while also ensuring everyone we must work and stand for something. That is my way.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was very active and absorbed a lot of suns here in the world. Summers were spent with the same individuals whom I will mention when asked to specify, but here in my neighborhood, all we indulged in were sports, video games, fighting, dancing, and conspiracy talks. Walking and exploring our neighborhoods and the woods around, biking for hours on end, attending basketball games of each other’s, running parkour and doing flips in and outside of each other’s homes, great cookouts and many more places we attended, growing up were by far the best moments of my life. Didn’t have to think much, just perform well in school so my parents were happy. It has been the same ever since, just in the real world where we have to think and work a little harder. Nothing has changed, I have just grown more wise, mature, and mindful of my sometimes reckless behavior. We knew then what we loved, and that remains essentially in us all. My personality and interests have always fallen into the categories of all the things I enjoy.
