Meet Callie Lee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Callie Lee.

Callie, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Well i’m born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I got bit by the singing bug at a young age. I had my first performance when I was five years old and from there I just couldn’t stop. My mom realized how serious I was and allowed me to start my own singing group at the age of 13. I’ve been singing and performing ever since. As an adult i’ve still been that same little girl, fighting for my dreams. 2018 was a tough year for me. Though blessed with many opportunities I began to question my gift. It’s like, I was given many opportunities in songwriting yet on the other side, I had no opportunities as an artist. I felt like I was being pulled in a direction extremely unsettling. I WANTED TO SING not be known as only a songwriter.

When my story took a turn…

It was mid-November 2018 and I’d just gotten back to Atlanta from attending a music conference in Los Angeles. I remember walking into my room and saying “Lord, at this point I’m at your will whatever you want me to do, I’m gonna do”. That’s when NBC’s The Voice gave me an opportunity of a lifetime. After a series of auditions, evaluations, etc, I was chosen as a cast member for The Voice season 17! It has been a long year of hard work but God made it happen. Out of 40,000 people that auditioned, I made top .01 %. I earned a spot in the Blind Auditions. Though I didn’t make a team this season this opportunity still changed my life forever. I’ve been given a platform and the only way is up from here!

I want people to be inspired and to never give up. A lot of things that happen to us are often blessings in disguise. Just when you’re on the brink of giving up things can change! Stay encouraged and keep believing in whatever your dreams are!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Of course it hasn’t been smooth sailing. I’ve struggled all of my life. I knew I wanted to be in the music industry so I had to figure out how to make that happen. I couldn’t afford to go to the studio every week so eventually, I decided to invest whatever was left from my paychecks into my own studio. I couldn’t afford custom clothes for shows so I taught myself how to customize. I couldn’t afford photoshoots so I invested in my own camera equipment. I’d work my day job, 40 hours a week and match that by putting 40+ hours into my craft. Tons of sleepless nights (even still). When you’ve put your last into something you can’t give it up. I believe in myself when no one but God does and you have to have that mentality to be successful.

Can you give our readers some background on your music?
Im a Singer/Songwriter/Entertainer. Influenced by the love of music on and off the stage. My music is a reflection of my thoughts and feelings expressed through song. My sound is changing and I can’t wait to share what i’ve been creating!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Hmmm, I have no regrets. Everything i’ve been through has gotten me here today with a story to tell.
