Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Taylor.
Cameron, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born in Germantown, Tennessee. We moved to Atlanta when I was around 11. When I lived on Camp Creek is when I wrote my first song with my brothers “I’m The Man Moma”. Then we moved to Stockbridge, GA. There I began to rap with a group called Legacy, a lil rap group in the school. I made songs for my class presentations all the time. I was rapping in front of the school in 7th grade for the CRCT. I began taking it serious when I met my first producer BuddaBless and other artist D2 (Texaco). I started out as HighBoi Cino, then I changed it to Uzi. Before you ask, Lil Uzi didn’t come out yet but imagine my face a serval months later when he is all over social media. Then I changed it to OOOOz and dropped my first mixtape on Spinrilla called “OOOOz Day” consisting of 16 songs and 1 feature.
But once I started promoting people started getting my name wrong and it was too much confusion. So I changed it to Baby 4. Which was the last song of OOOOz day. And it stuck, people loved it. And I dropped another mixtape two years later, while in college at Valdosta State University, called “Back From The Dead” which consisted of 8 songs no features. My single “Life” started off my buzz at VSU and caught the attention of the local radio station and even got me to be one of the few people to open up for wake flaka at the spring concert. 107.9 the beat gave me my first radio interview and I knew then I could do it. But once again, rappers started using baby and it just got overwhelming so I finally changed it to Lil bro. A nickname they called me because I was always hanging with my big brother. I officially changed my name on the mixtape “6Racks” produced by 6Racks and Lee4Sho. This is my most recent project and the numbers are still going up. With the climbing songs, “6Racks, Back In Da Boof, DMV, and Rock Out featuring Flintbihh”.
Has it been a smooth road?
It’s been challenging. Most people doubted me, parents and friends. School being a barrier in between my the real world and my dreams. But God has blessed me and I’m glad for each challenge.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
I listen to music 24/7. Music is the only thing that can change my moods and calm me down. I try to specialize in reaching hearts and minds of youth. Not trying to promote violence but to show a way out. To show them, when all odds are against you, that’s when your destiny is in front of you. Most people know me as the leader. Being able to lead and encourage even speak wisdom. I’m most proud of my endurance my will to keep going even though I facing hell from all sides. And what’s going to set me apart from others is pure talent. Once I bring my seasoning into this game you not gone want it without it.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is the perfect city to start. So much life and love out here. Great place to connect and build something. So many rappers, producers, djs, and studios.
I would recommend starting in the A. But get around the right people cause everybody don’t wanna see you win.
