Meet Camilla Soares of Vida Nutrition in Toco Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camilla Soares.

Camilla, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Four years ago I decided to leave the crazy, busy trade show industry that I had worked in for 15 years, to follow my passion for healthy living and nutrition.  I realized that it didn’t make any sense for me to commute to work for 45 minutes in a job that did not fulfill me personally or compliment the lifestyle I wanted.  I had two beautiful baby boys and wanted to simplify. I was looking for flexibility and still allow me to help people puruse better health.

So I went back to school to become a Certified Health Coach.  Soon after I discovered the power of natural solutions that support healing and wanted to incorporate that into my practice.  So I became an essential oil advocate and a Fitness and Wellness Coach. I see it as three pillars to healthy living which I bring to my clients regularly.  And right now I am training on a plant-based nutrition program. Today I practice from my home office where I see clients on a one-on-one basis or virtually throught the USA and internationally.

Has it been a smooth road?
The biggest challenge was to come to the realization that the job I was doing wasn’t contributing to what I wanted out of life.  The trade show industry can be very stressful with high demands, long work hours and travel. Since my husband travels on a weekly basis for his own work, I felt this constant, crazy, insane pressure to balance my life as a professional and a new mom.  Nutrition was a profession I always wanted to pursue but couldn’t for different reasons. It became time to follow my passion.

Six months prior to submitting my resignation letter, I prepared myself mentally as well as the family for some big changes to come.  I wouldn’t have a paycheck for some time, and I had educational expenses to take care of.

I can remember the thoughts running through my: going back to school after two kids, learning a completely new subject, in a second language (Portuguese being my native language) class being taught online, which required  a lot of discipline. I was so ready for the change, and new that all would work out in the end, so I went for it!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Vida Nutrition – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As a Health Coach, I work with individuals by providing them health programs and necessary wellness coaching.  I develop customized plans for program participants including goals and action plans. I encourage the adoption of positive habits that are conducive to higher quality of life.

I constantly interact with clients by email, phone or in person to check on their progress and help them overcome obstacles they are facing.  I help my clients establish a healthy practices which include safe exercise routines, developing a manageable healthy food rotation, improving sleep, etc..  I also help patients track the foods consumed into a database to assess how well the individual is adhering to the foods recommendation, and adjust it as the clients abilities and health changes over the course of the program.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I have been living in Atlanta for 20 years now and have seen incredible growth in terms of new developments and people coming from different places.  The city is rich with diversity and open to new ideas and concepts. Just look at the restaurant scene and the number of independent chef’s bringing their creations to us.  These are things you don’t find elsewhere. But I also come from Sao Paulo, which is the third largest city in the world. So sometimes I miss all of the things that a big city has to offer.  But nothing changes the fact that Atlanta is my home, and when I’m away, I always miss it.
