Meet Candace Holyfield of I Love Candy Spa Parties in Smyrna

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Holyfield.

Candace, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was a waitress for 12 years (in Memphis, TN) and one day they took me out of my section. (if you work at restaurant the best server always works in best section of restaurant) I decided to go back to school. I chose massage left my waitress job the day I passed my state board. I opened up my own spa within in a year and made over $100k from Groupon. I started traveling (to Atlanta) working events across the country and working with different celebrities (Matthew Knowles super bowl brunch, essence magazine, black ink, Lifetime tv, New York fashion week and etc. People became very interested in me and my business. I want more exposure so I moved to Atlanta in 2015 and started all over! I built a full clientele within 6 months. I started my second business SIX FIGURE SPA CHICK teaching other people how to open up day spas. I know have an amazing team here in ATLANTA and I’m super excited to retire from massage this December. My spa will still be opened and we will still be working celebrity events. I’m focusing more on my spa coaching business in 2018.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
NOOOOOOOO! When you’re trying to build your business, you work a lot. Your family/friends will not understand why you are putting 1000% of yourself in this so-called business. One of my hardest obstacles while building was always working. My kids never saw me for the first two years. My business grew so quickly so I was always working. My kids now travel around the country with me for events and see me all the time. Once you get your business on automation, you work when you want to work. My second biggest obstacle is trying to figure out everything on my own. I didn’t get a business coach until 4 years into my business(@theglamuniversity). Everyone needs a business coach. My business grew and I work less and make more since I have a coach.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about I Love Candy Spa Parties – what should we know?
We offer holistic spa services. Massages, facials, steam, and make natural bath/body products. We help with each guest lifetime wellness through the therapeutic power of touch. We are most known for deep tissue massage/pain relief and spa parties. Everyone also know us because we do massage lounges at all the big events and have a long list of celebrity clients. I’m most proud of being featured in American Spa Magazine and of course being in business since 2010. Many independent spas don’t make it after 2 years. What sets us apart from others are the prices. I have the lowest price for spa services in Atlanta and surrounding areas. I originally started out doing $25 massages to get people in the door since I was a new business. It worked!

Once clients try us out, 95% become members. We have a 9 out of 10 return rate. My reviews are really good. People can’t believe how the good the service is for such a low price so they tell everyone!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The most credit goes to my kid’s father! He refused to help me even though we grew up together plus knew each other our whole life. I had no choice but to be successful if I wanted to feed my children. He gets all the credit for making me a BOSS and teaching me to try my best to help others!
