Today we’d like to introduce you to Carl Butler Jr.
So, before we jump into specific questions about what you do, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I got my start in videography and media production when I was a teenager, filming and editing wedding ceremonies and church services. Media production has always been my passion and I love every aspect of the business. Although I am self-taught, I studied under various videographers, editors, and creatives, that taught me new crafts and techniques that would allow me to provide my clients with creative, cutting edge ideas.
I view media production as a visual translation of a person’s ideas to reach their intended audience with clarity. This isn’t just a job or a business for me, I consider myself a bridge between the ideas in a person’s mind and the world. My passion for media production has translated into production projects for companies such as The Word Network, WBGR TV, and Roku TV.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t believe anyone pursuing their dreams will have nor has had a smooth road. When I started my business, I was trying to balance my full-time career and running a full-time business. When my business begins to grow, I eventually lost my full-time job, due to scheduling conflicts between my business and my job. As soon as I lost my job, my successful business began to decline and everything in my life fell apart. During this time, my ex-wife and I lost our unborn child, we lost our home to foreclosure, I lost my truck in repossession, and I eventually went through a painful divorce. I was 30 years old at the time with a failed business, failed marriage, foreclosure, repossession, and at the same time, suffering the loss of our unborn child.
Listen, sometimes pursuing your dreams will cost you everything, and while you’re going through the tough times, it feels as if life is over. Through my faith in God and the hope and promises He made me, I continued to push forward. Sometimes, everything falls apart, because God is trying to teach you that he is your only source.
A few years later, I was blessed to meet my wife, Eboni Butler, and she helped me rebuild my life. I have written and published 5 inspirational books on Amazon Books, I had my first child, Zion, and I am the Associate Pastor of Life on The Rock. Through a massive amount of hard work, determination, and faith, I rebranded and rebuilt Butler Studios into a prosperous media production business.
Please tell us about Butler Studios.
While Butler Studios is a media production company that produces commercials, promotional ads, talk shows, and podcasts, our main focus is creating content for social media. Creative social media content is often neglected by the average business owner, influencer, and creative, and for that reason, they will always be average. Thousands of business owners post content and go live to promote their brand, but if their posts and videos are not well thought out and designed, then it will get lost in the sea of content.
My client’s video views and content engagement has increased due to well placed and well designed creative content. Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is the moment I realized I never wanted to work for anyone. I remember knowing I wanted to be in business for myself and the freedom I would have working for myself.
