Meet Carsen Ramsey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carsen Ramsey.

Hi Carsen, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My mom was a hairstylist and would always do mine and my siblings hair growing up. I always found it so fascinating to watch her be able to express herself creatively through her craft. I decided from a very young age I wanted to follow in her footsteps. Out of high school, I went to Paul Mitchell school to get started on my business as soon as possible. Once I graduated from there, I was able to learn behind some great and well-known hairstylist in a popular salon in Buckhead. While the education was amazing there, I didn’t feel at home in the salon and decided I needed to find my salon home. I now work at Vanasons salon in Marietta with an assistant and able to control my business behind the chair.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely did not come to me very easy. While I always knew what I wanted to do, I did not realize how much work I would truly have to put in to become more than just mediocre. When I worked at a high-end salon in Buckhead, a work-life balance became very much nonexistent. I started to feel as if I couldn’t stay in the hair industry because of feeling so burnt out.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a hairstylist in the Marietta area. I specialize in French hair cutting and balayage lived-in looks. I am most proud of the clientele I have made for myself as well as my feature with Voyage last year. I feel what sets me apart from others is specializing in French haircutting as well as the friendships I have created with my clients.

What’s next?
As for future plans, I would love to broaden my horizons in the hair community. I am interested in traveling to learn from other artist in the community and learning as much as possible. As for any big changes, there are none in the plans for now. I am looking forward to building more friendships and meeting more people in the industry.
