Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassandra Brown.
Hi Cassandra, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in love with hair since I was a little girl. My passion grew as I matured through life. However, I had chosen other routes because I was told this was not a legitimate career. I tried many things but nothing spoke to me like being an entrepreneur. I decided to listen to my own voice and ran with my dreams, passions, and ambitions. So today, I am conquering goals and in the pursuit of my happiness. I am now a licensed Cosmetologist, Barber, and Master Educator. I am completely in love with what I do. Making people feel better about themselves brings me the ultimate joy. “As long as you can do something with your hands, man can never take them away.” -Jimmy Jackson Sr.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is never smooth. Obstacles always come in the way of greatness, but they make you stronger. One of the main obstacles I can recall facing is being a woman Barber. Most men despise the thought of a woman being in the same field as them and being better. At first, I’d allow the words of others to discourage me until I realized I was better than the average man behind a barber chair. So I took those stones and built myself up.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in many areas, but my favorite style would have to be a “Silk Press”. I am most known for this style in my city. As a matter of fact, if you google Silk Press Artist in Birmingham, I am in the top 8 percentile (ranking at number 1).
My proudest moments are the ones when I felt defeated but I didn’t give up. I kept pushing through despite the issue at hand, and in those moments, I was able to produce like no other.
What sets me apart is my authenticiness. Once you sit in my chair, you are at home, and you’re able to relax, relate, and release. I set a standard in my salon that can not be touched daily. My clients are a part of my family.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Keep pushing and striving for your goals. Do not allow anyone to dim your light keep shining and go for everything that’s attached to your name!
