Meet Cassandre Chery

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Cassandre Chery. Cassandre was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Desiree’ Stapleton.

Cassandre, can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Cassandre Weendy Chery, I was born and raised in Haiti where I was privileged to get the best education that was offered. I say privileged because not everyone had access to this level of education especially when you are a girl.

I have been a first-hand witness of girls staying home to do the chores while their brothers are going to school, I have seen little girls being disempowered while my two little sisters and I have always been empowered by both my dad and mother to be greater than we were already.

And, subconsciously and innocently too, my sister and I (The youngest was not born yet) are always playing teachers during summer when we go to the countryside to our grandparents for the ones who couldn’t go to school either due to lack of funding or just because their parents didn’t know better.

From there, as much as I wanted to be a doctor, a lawyer, and a diplomat, I became involved in the empowerment work more and more.

And, after nine years of working with non-profits to help with economic development work, community building, and empowerment, I have realized for all this work to be effective, I needed to start focusing more on empowering young girls and women, especially women of color to help them reclaim their power so that they can enhance their lives and create change around them in all aspect.

Because I strongly believe that change and sustainable development is more effective and efficient when women and youth are included in the conversation.

This was what motivated me to start coaching women of color to become their best selves so that they can create fulfilled and prosperous lives.

And, now I am helping them through my skills as an Author, Speaker, and Coach!

Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
My professional career officially starts in 2010. Before that, I was just a smart kid with an entrepreneurial spirit who has run multiple side hustles before she graduated from High School. As soon as I graduated from High-school, I was approached by many organizations for my language abilities to assist in translations. I fluently speak 4 languages and there has been a rise in International non-profit organizations in Haiti since the 2010 earthquake. I was privileged to work with some amazing ones. However, they were not aligned with my values. Until I was approached by this group of foreigners who wanted to start an organization in my parent’s hometown, where I started as a community liaison both because I was able to be the bridge between their language barriers and also because I knew the community members. So, I spent 6 years with this organization where I undertake different positions up to the Deputy Country Director. After I left this organization, I was fortunate and privileged to work with the United Nations in different leadership roles and different duty stations. After 9 years working in the non-profit world, I realized I was living a “camouflage success”. I had everything I was “supposed”; the college degrees, the car, the dream job; from the outside looking in, I had it all. While deep inside, I had this void that couldn’t be filled. I was unfulfilled. From there, I knew something had to change. And, this is how I shifted everything in my life and went full-time as a Life Coach and Mindset expert. What sets me apart from others? Last year, I sit down and reflected on my journey and how I am different in my industry. Here is what came up: I was born and raised in a “third world country” and started my business with very limited resources. As opposed to the norm, my live events were not always in fancy hotels but in people’s dusty yards, sometimes with people who don’t know how to read or write, my events have been mostly free or at a low cost and yet, I have been able to make a great impact and change hundreds of lives. Also, I have been one of the youngest and rare females in this industry in Haiti and, with multifaced aspects in one business. What I love the most about my work is the ability I have to be attuned to my clients and help them create the best version of themselves even when they don’t feel they can be! My clients’ results are everything to me. This is why I am proud that my clients’ results have been 100%!

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Desiree’ Stapleton & Company, LLC. and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Desiree’ Stapleton & Company, LLC..
Desiree was the very first black coach I worked with! Desiree has become a friend during our time working together!

Desiree is down to earth and so relatable, and this makes a difference for me because just like Desiree, my success is not what I focus on but how my success can help me assist my clients better. And Desiree is this person!

Desiree helped me be comfortable thinking outside the box and not limit myself to just being a coach but an entrepreneur who does everything she needs to make things happen. Desiree helped me focus on the end goals!

Working with Desiree has impacted me on so many levels: It has helped me focus on what I want instead of what the industry says I am “supposed” to want and do; focus more on helping my clients get results than making the coins; Desiree helped me reground myself and go back to my mission.

Desiree helps one achieve their goals with alignment!
