Meet Catherine Jacqueline of Eclipz Hair Gallery in The Historic West End

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catherine Jacqueline.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Catherine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have owned a hair salon before and was bitten by the hair bug again. I missed the salon atmosphere and the feeling that comes with it when you make someone look as good on the outside as they feel on the inside. I began my salon search and fell in love with an existing salon that was for sale; I decided to purchase it. I was fortunate that a couple of the stylist wanted to stay and a few more stylists that were friends came aboard. It has been very hard at times, the salon name change and the telephone went with the old owner, but we (my stylist and I) as a group are working very hard and have been at this location for a little over 2 years. At this point, we are now starting our retail services and feel like nothing can get in the way of our success!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road at all, dealing with “shady” property manager; there was a clause in my lease that I overlooked and my rent was raised $800 9 months after we started. Also, we are a NO DRAMA SALON and had to bless and release a staff member because they did not share that same vision.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Eclipz Hair Gallery story. Tell us more about the business.
We are a HAIR salon that specializes in healthy hair. It does not matter the texture or if it is natural or straight, we want to make your hair as healthy as possible. I don’t want to sound arrogant, but there is nothing we don’t specialize in. We are great at natural hair, short hair, extensions, “barber” cuts, lash extensions and braids. Anything that someone asks for that has to do with hair, there is someone in this salon that can produce the style. I am most proud of the people that work for me to make up Eclipz Hair Gallery! They are all true professional that go over and beyond to satisfy their customers. I think what is different about us is that we attempt to make everyone that walk into outdoor feel like part of the Eclipz family. Whether you are a regular client or a walk-in, you are family.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe in luck, I am so blessed and highly favored. Every time life or business has gotten too hard God has stepped in., I am at the point that God has done so much for me, I just don’t worry anymore, cause I know it’s going to be just fine.
