Meet Catolyn Merriweather, Alicia Deadrick, Scottesha Deadrick and Jasmine Aimes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catolyn Merriweather, Alicia Deadrick, Scottesha Deadrick, and Jasmine Aimes.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Catolyn, Alicia, Scottesha and Jasmine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My daughters and I started when they were smaller. We started cleaning out our closets and making extra food to take to the homeless in the Auburn and Edgewood corridor. After a year or so we started to collect clothes from our family and friends and prepared actual to go plates for that community.

A few years went by and I started feeling like I wasn’t doing enough and wanted to do more. So I began to pray. I was sitting at the dinner table 1 night and picked up a magazine and began reading a story about Doniece Sandoval who founded Lava Mae in San Francisco. Lava Mae is the 1st mobile shower service in that city and has grown since. I reached out on how I can do the same here in Atlanta and thats where are.

Our dreams come true each time we can help someone and provide a hot shower.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been easy. The biggest struggle is getting donors, sponsors and experienced board members to help us grow and provide these services more often.

His Mercy and Grace Inc dba HMAG SHOWERS – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
His Mercy and Grace Inc./ HMAG SHOWERS provide food, clothing, toiletries, and hot showers. We specialize in providing clothes and showers. We partner with local churches along the Auburn Ave corridor to provide these services without interfering with traffic or violating any city ordinances.

We are most proud of our volunteers that come out and give their time and the excitement they have when we have events. As well as the people that we help and how they feel after a hot shower.

What sets us apart is that we are an all African American female nonprofit that provides mobile showers in the Atlanta area.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Being able to provide such important services that we take for granted everyday.

Pricing:

  • Each rented shower costs $2100
  • The total cost of a shower can be $25000
  • We spend for every event about $2700
