Meet Cedric Morris of BodyJump Fitness in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cedric Morris.

Cedric, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started working out after I graduated from Radford University in 2003. I noticed the great results I received from my consistency with exercises and nutrition, I wanted to become a Personal Trainer in 2006!! Also, at the time my mother was having some health issues but she just really needed to lose some weight!! With that, she also motivated me to be a trainer and help others to a healthier lifestyle. In 2015, I came across this fitness trend on Facebook called Jumping and thought it was very interested. Being in the fitness industry, you hear about people unable to do cardio and just exercise because of their bad knees and/or back. I told myself “this is the answer to that problem” due to the low-impact from this form of exercise.

So, I told my wife of now eight years, “I want to open a business using these trampolines”!!! She reviewed my research and thought it was a good idea. In September 2015, we flew to New York to go and take our first Jumping class at a studio called JumpLife!! We had a blast in the class and it was a “real workout”. In November 2015, I flew out to Redondo Beach, Ca. for the training to become a Jumping Instructor!! When I say the training was difficult, that’s an understatement!! The first night I had to put ice packs on both legs and the second day, I was cramping up in class. With completion of my training, I became the 1st male in the USA to be a Jumping Instructor!! In August 2016, we opened BodyJump Fitness in Marietta (East Cobb). Our studio is the 1st of its’ kind in the state of Georgia!! We look forward to spreading the love of Jumping and continuing to change many lives!!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our biggest challenge has been too educated what Jumping is and what it has to offer. We’ve encountered were people previous our classes like you’re at a trampoline park and it’s not even close!! Our classes are more like dance moves on a trampoline instead of just jumping up and down. The use of a rebounder has an abundance of benefits to the point where NASA has use them for training the astronauts once they return from space!!! We’ve also faced the misconception of women thinking they will tinkle on themselves. As you jump correctly on the trampoline, it can be a form of kegel exercise.

BodyJump Fitness – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a rebound fitness studio that consists of personal trampolines with handlebars in a class setting under black and special lighting. You can burn anywhere from 600-1000 calories per class. We also have a heart rate monitor system for clients to keep track of calories burned and heart rate. We offer the four following classes:

Jumping Fitness (Majority cardio w/ minimum weight training)
Jumping Interval (Majority weight training w/ minimum cardio)
Jumping Bootcamp (Advance class)
Active Adult Fitness (30 min class at lower pace for 55+)
Birthday Parties for Kids and Adults

We’re mostly proud of our clients and their success!! We love the camaraderie that has been establish and the enjoyment on their faces during class!! Our energy and the usage of the trampolines sets us apart!!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment has been to be on TV twice!! We have been featured on Married to Medicine on Bravo and The Rickey Smiley “The Real” Show as well.
