Today we’d like to introduce you to Chancellor Jackson.
Hi Chancellor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My story truly began after graduating from Stetson University, when I took my first job teaching English to children in China. Six months into that journey, my life took an unexpected turn—I was arrested, spent 14 days in a Chinese jail, and was deported back to the United States. Returning home forced me to reset and redefine my path. I found purpose in coaching football and continuing my work in education, while also turning my experience into my first book, 14 Days in Beijing, which became a bestseller. Since then, I’ve written four more books—two of them bestsellers—and have helped two aspiring authors publish their own stories, both of which also became bestsellers.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting over after being deported forced me to confront failure, uncertainty, and self-doubt in a very real way. I had to rebuild my confidence, reputation, and sense of direction from the ground up. Balancing coaching, working in education, and writing—often without clear results early on—was exhausting and mentally challenging. There were moments of frustration, financial strain, and questioning whether sharing my story would even matter. But each obstacle taught me resilience and discipline. Those struggles ultimately became the foundation for my growth, sharpening my purpose and pushing me to keep moving forward when quitting would’ve been easier.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the founder of an independent publishing company, Korleh Publications LLC, dedicated to helping aspiring authors bring their stories to life and position them for commercial success. I specialize in guiding writers through the full publishing process—from shaping their narrative and refining their message to launching their book with a strategy designed for impact and visibility. I’m best known for helping independent authors not only publish their stories, but turn them into bestsellers.
What I’m most proud of is the success of my clients—seeing their voices amplified and their books reach audiences they never imagined. What sets me apart is that I’ve walked the path myself. I combine lived experience, storytelling, and strategy with a long-term vision to expand these stories beyond books and into film and television.
What’s next?
Looking ahead, my focus is on scaling my publishing company and expanding its reach to support aspiring authors around the world. I plan to continue developing original stories—both my own and those of my clients—while building pathways for these narratives to extend beyond books into film and television. I’m also looking forward to creating more educational resources and mentorship opportunities for writers who want to turn their lived experiences into meaningful, impactful work. The biggest change ahead is growth—stepping fully into a creative leadership role while building a sustainable brand that connects storytelling, education, and media.
