Meet Chanel Waldorf of Empowered Beauty in Lithonia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chanel Waldorf.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chanel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
When I was younger, I lived in a very abusive home with my mother who was a drug addict and mentally ill. We were homeless time to time barely could afford a dollar menu meal. Countless night sleeping under bridges in the city of downtown. My father’s presence was absent. He did not claim me as his own because he would rather chase money and I was only a burden.

Since the age of 6, I’ve been in and out of different foster care homes feeling hopeless ready to give up. I managed to finish high school top 10% first in my family to do and I am now I’m my 3rd of college as a senior. When I first got to college, I was once again on my own and didn’t know who to turn to but God. I focused my life around him and began to believe and see who I am in the eyes of God. At that point of time, I knew what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to help ladies that were/are in the same shoes I was in. I wanted to give them hope and encourage them to not give up because life is what they would make it. They would become who they wanted to be if they kept faith in themselves. That is when I started my organization of female leaders where we encourage and empower each other to strive within ourselves. Through all adversity That I have encountered in my life, I will be the first in my family on both sides to graduate college. I will be the first to be successful! I will be the first to build generational wealth. I am the first to break generational curses.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Mental barriers, I would say are my biggest struggles. I say this because in today’s society it is so hard to get distracted and lose faith. I am guilty of this sometimes. I let life slip through my fingers instead of going 100% all the time. I recently just learned what it means to be GREAT even when you feel like you can’t make it.

We’d love to hear more about your organization.
My organization is called Empowered Beauty, basically a group of Ladies that want to strive together in sisterhood. We implement goals, tasks, self-awareness activities, and action plans for our lives. What I am most proud of is the fact that I was brave and strong enough to empower younger women and ladies. It was not easy because it does hurt talking about my life and using my life as a path to guide others but I maintain because I want to see each lady succeed at all costs. What sets me apart from others is my glow my shine. I know who I am and who I want to be. I know when I walk into a room I can light up a building just because of my energy. I know my smile can cure broken hearts, I know my testimony can cure lost souls.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Graduating college, I have not graduated as of yet but I know that it has already taken place. My feet just not have treaded the path and my hands have not opened the door! That is my proudest moment I see it every time I close my eyes! To be the first in my family to accomplish something they thought was impossible.
