Meet Chantel Cohen of CWC Coaching and Therapy in Buckhead

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantel Cohen.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Chantel. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have a passion for helping people … that is not a line. My entire career has been built on helping people construct better lives, marriages, and careers for themselves. I have never subscribed to the notion that the glass is half full or half empty; I know and have seen, through my work with individuals, couples, and companies such as Coca Cola that the glass is always refillable.

I owe Columbia University a big shout out. I received my Masters as well as my Coaching Certification from Columbia. I pursued a coaching certification because I wanted to work on the three most important relationships in a person’s life; their relationship to self, to their significant other, and their relationship to their career. I help people have the lives they have always wanted

For years, I worked with hard driving professionals who wanted to turbo charge their careers and manage their stress levels. About 5 years ago, I started working with couples. Although my practice was built on helping individuals … A colleague of mine asked me to work with a couple, Cindy and Ralph who were in relationship distress. I sat in front of this couple that expected me to help them repair their marriage and I felt I was not prepared to address their issues. I walked away from that session convinced that it was my mission to help couples.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are a few things that I struggled with:

1. How to provide meaningful coaching and therapy, so that couples can save their relationships.

That led me on a journey to study the best in class methods to help couples establish lasting meaningful change … Not superficial change, but meaningful change the helps individuals lean into their partners and create the relationship that they have always wanted.

2. Advertising has been challenging. It continues to be a challenge and yet I feel that the more I speak to groups, write articles, and post on social media it becomes less of a challenge.

3. Personally, building a business and raising 3 kids without my husband around day to day has been difficult; my husband works in Tampa, FL.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
I was raised by my grandparents; they were the kind of folks who paid for everything in cash, including cars. Needless to say, we lived very frugally and I had everything that I always wanted, but we didn’t travel. So, when I was about 10 years old my grandparents and I took a trip in our car to Louisiana … it was so thrilling to be on the road and seeing another part of the country. My grandparents even splurged and we stayed at a Sheraton Hotel … it felt like the Ritz Carlton to me. I remember being totally content going to bed that night in the Sheridan. I know this sounds ordinary, however taking a vacation where we stayed at “fancy” hotels was a little slice of heaven to me.
