

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charity Johnson.
Hi Charity , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I graduated high school, I knew I wanted to go to college, but I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do. So, I chose business as my major, hoping it would give me a solid foundation no matter which path I eventually took. For years, I struggled with figuring out my true purpose and what I wanted to do for a career. Over time, I held several administrative assistant positions in both government and private sectors, and I also gained experience in human resources. While I enjoyed aspects of my work, I always wanted to have my own business, I just did not know what I wanted to do. After experiencing a period of unemployment, I was traveling one day and made a quick stop at a small town’s city hall to use the restroom. As I was being directed by the receptionist, I overheard a woman saying, “I have so many other things to do and I don’t have time for these small tasks. I need help.” In that moment, something clicked. I realized there are so many entrepreneurs, small business owners, and professionals who are overwhelmed with administrative tasks but aren’t quite ready to hire a full-time employee. That’s when the idea for The Admin Firm was born — a business dedicated to providing administrative support to individuals and businesses who need help staying organized and efficient without the commitment of a full-time staff member. Interestingly, at the time, I had also been learning about the Japanese concept of Ikigai, which is all about finding purpose at the intersection of what you love, what you’re good at, what the world needs, and what you can be paid for. Every element of that concept perfectly aligned with this business idea, and in that moment, I knew I had finally discovered my purpose.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road definitely hasn’t been completely smooth, like many entrepreneurs, one of my biggest struggles has actually been overcoming myself and my own thoughts. Self-doubt, fear of failure, and overthinking can easily hold you back if you allow them to. There were times I questioned whether I was qualified enough, capable enough, or ready to take this leap. But I’ve learned that sometimes, the biggest obstacle is the internal dialogue we have with ourselves. One book that really helped me during these moments was The Untethered Soul by Michael A. Singer. It taught me how to observe my thoughts without allowing them to control me, and to release the fears and limiting beliefs that were holding me back. That mindset shift has been incredibly powerful in my journey. Most importantly my faith has been my anchor. Knowing that God is with me has given me strength and peace during times of uncertainty. Even when things felt unclear or challenging, I’ve held onto the belief that God placed this purpose on my heart for a reason. Every challenge has helped me grow not only as a business owner but also personally and I’m grateful for both the lessons and the victories along the way.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m really excited about the direction The Admin Firm is heading. My plan is to continue expanding our services so that we can support even more businesses and entrepreneurs who need help building strong sustainable foundations. One of my long term goals is to grow our team of administrative professionals so we can serve a wider range of industries while still providing the personalized, hands on service we’re known for. I’m also looking forward to offering more educational resources whether it’s through workshops, webinars, or digital products to help business owners learn how to implement better systems, even if they’re not quite ready to outsource yet. I want The Admin Firm to not only be a service provider, but a true resource for anyone looking to bring more organization, structure, and peace into their business.
