Meet Charlene Masona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charlene Masona.

Charlene, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’ve been unintentionally content creating for a while. I always enjoyed taking photos, editing them, and posting on Instagram. I was following a lot of bloggers and it was really fun to see how people live their lives, where they go, what they wear, what they eat. I was drawn to it. I wanted to do it. I wanted to start from scratch and create my own brand. I deleted my first Instagram account and started over. Did I feel immediate regret? Absolutely, but it had to be done. I absolutely love food (I mean who doesn’t?), fashion, and beauty. I decided to name my personal blog “Beauty and Bytes.” I thought it was a clever name and I was really excited to show people how to eat well while dressing well. That was exciting for a while until it wasn’t. I did not feel like I was truly showcasing myself. I did not think that I was blogging with a purpose. I had to go back to the drawing board. No, I did not delete my Instagram again. I did not want to go through that trauma. I decided to rebrand myself using my own name. Char Masona represents the millennials who don’t necessarily have life figured out. I’m a 24-year-old college graduate whose life is nowhere near together. I constantly worry about my future and whether I’m making the right decisions. I have no idea what I’m doing! But that’s okay! I still live a full life. I wanted to show people how to live abundantly. I wanted people to know that it’s possible to enjoy life while we work things out. My full life consists of bottomless mimosas and bomb outfits. My love for beauty and fashion has helped me through a lot of hard times. Blogging has been therapeutic for me. I am currently in a career transition period and I do not know how I would have gotten through it without my blog.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Whew! Smooth?! I wish. The road has definitely been rocky. I have struggled with consistency. It has been hard to balance working full-time while working on a blog. I want my audience to enjoy my content so I have to make sure that it’s high-quality. It has also been hard to make sure that I have enough content. Don’t even get me started on that Instagram algorithm. I am still trying to figure that out. Although I’ve had difficult times, I love doing it and I wouldn’t cherish the good moments without an obstacle or two right?

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
Char Masona represents every woman in her early to mid-twenties. It’s been rough and I will not hide that. I don’t take myself too seriously, and I believe that my audience enjoys that part of me. One of my friends jokingly called me a “glamorous hot mess” and those three words describe my brand perfectly. That’s what my audience enjoys. They also enjoy my captions, I really try to make people smile when I post content. That’s the best way to show people who you really are through a photo. I genuinely enjoy engaging with my audience. When I get a response from someone who was impacted by one of my posts, it’s one of the greatest rewards. I am really proud of that.

What was you like growing up?
I have a pretty big personality. It’s almost too big. I’ve always been outgoing and outspoken. Sometimes I think that I’m a little too much for people but I can’t change now! I’ve always enjoyed people, I love to make people laugh and smile. I think that’s why I was so obsessed with performing arts as a kid. I loved to sing and act. I still do! I love to entertain people. I’ve always had a zest for life! My father passed away when he was very young. I believe that’s why I believe in living life to the fullest. Life is short! Do whatever you want, but make sure you do it fashionably!
