Meet Charles Staley of Peach & The Porkchop in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Charles Staley.

Charles, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been a people pleaser and stumbled upon my perfect career match at age 15, when I landed my first restaurant industry job. Customer service and food quality have both always been my focal points in running restaurants.

Although I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I worked at several bars in restaurants in Vail, Colorado, before purchasing my restaurant there in 1994 at age 24. At that restaurant, Doolittle’s 19th Hole, I met Alyssa, who would become my wife. We moved to Pittsburgh for several years while I worked in commercial real estate, then moved to Atlanta in 2007.

Peach & The Porkchop has been a dream of ours for many years. The name came about 18 years ago when I met Alyssa’s parents, true Southerners, for the first time. At the time, I was the Owner/Operator of Dootlittle’s 19th Hole in Vail. Alyssa’s father Fred said to the two of us, “If you ever open a restaurant together, you should name it Peach and The Porkchop.”

When our dream was becoming a reality in 2014, we took Fred’s advice and the rest is history!

Peach & The Porkchop showcases fresh, all-natural ingredients, which are sourced locally as much as possible.

We call it ‘Roswell’s Family First Restaurant’ because one of the reasons we started the restaurant is for kids to be able to get the same high-quality foods as adults. My wife Alyssa (a.k.a., ‘The Peach’) and I, along with our daughters live in Roswell, a mile from the restaurant, and are passionate supporters of the local community as well as fans of healthy food.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Owning and running a restaurant is never a smooth road. We have had many bumps in the road, and each one has made us stronger at what we do, and created a better restaurant for our guests to dine in.

Please tell us about Peach & The Porkchop.
Peach & The Porkchop has become one of the most popular restaurants in Roswell, which is something we are extremely proud of. We have an immense attention to detail and serve local farm fresh food in a welcoming environment. We have an award-winning bar manager who creates fantastic cocktails, and we have a great wine beer and spirit list that matches perfectly with our food.

The menu at Peach & The Porkchop reflects both the Southern culinary heritage that Alyssa grew up with and the bold flavors and northern meats that I have always been enthusiastic about. We are both passionate about finding the highest quality, farm fresh products to incorporate in the culinary traditions that we love. All of our meats are hormone-free, anti-biotic free and steroid free.

We have a relationship with many local farmers who supply our hydroponically grown lettuce, just laid eggs and freshly farmed produce. People today care about the quality of food they put in their bodies and we are proud to only offer them the highest quality foods that are prepared in a delicious fashion.

We also take great pride in the quality of service that we provide. People truly feel like family when they dine here.
