Meet Chase Crandell of Homestead Tiny House in Alpharetta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Crandell.

Chase, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My story is pretty long, with a lot of boring parts. But basically, I started out as an actor in NYC. I transitioned more into the production/investor world, and have even invested in Broadway shows. During that time I was doing some video production as well and decided to create a branding company. At one point, I had 20 contractors working for me in NYC creating content for theatres, artists, and small companies. I moved back to Georgia late last year, and with that came a bunch of new endeavors. I have a couple of startups that are in NYC. My family owns an art gallery in the West Village of Manhattan that I have a large role in, in terms of brokering the product. We have real estate, as do I, that I rent out short term and long term, and we have a horse farm.

One of the most exciting companies and the one that this article is focusing around is Homestead Tiny House. Tiny houses are one of the next big trends, and we wanted to be a part of that movement. We build tiny houses out of a warehouse in Alpharetta and sell them to private clients and are even creating our own resorts and villages down in Florida, and the north Georgia Mountains.

I work primarily in the sales and marketing realm of this company. I make relationships with clients, big and small, and try to help peoples dreams of going ‘tiny’, a reality.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There are always obstacles, but we always have the right mindset to move past them. As is the case with any large purchase, it’s tough to get people to pull the trigger. Whether someone is buying 1 tiny house that costs $30k or someone is buying 10 for a development that costs $500k, getting the person to actually pull the trigger is tough.

It takes the right balance of patience and persistence, which undoubtedly takes some failures to find out that balance.

And then, there is also a learning curve with the builds themselves. Designs and blueprints change as we figure out things that work and things that don’t.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
We build tiny houses and development properties and resort areas for tiny houses.

None of us came from a building background, so we are very proud of how much we learned in such a short period of time.

We are different than most any tiny house company because we are actively pursuing developments, and creating developments. We want to change county rules all over the country to allow for easier zoning changes, making it so that people can buy and live in tiny houses with a bit more ease.

We also know tiny houses within the vacation rental realm are super hot as well. We are working towards building resorts in tourist areas, by beaches, in the mountains, near popular cities, etc.

What were you like growing up?
I was always a pretty serious kid. I didn’t like to joke around when it was something I cared about.

I grew up playing sports and then moved into theatre and acting. It was a pretty drastic shift at the age of 14. But it taught me a lot about who I am, and my theatre days turned me into more of the salesman that I am today.
