Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Shakur.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Chase. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Well, I was introduced to music during this summer program when I was 13, being from around the area it was like everyone was doing music so I gave it a try and ended up falling in love with it. I started out rapping going to underground cyphers around East Atlanta, trying to build the sound, and then during high school I met my two best friends and started recording and writing for other artist and then I started singing and people loved it haha.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To be honest, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. I think that anything worth something will always have its ups and downs. I remember waking up at 6am and walking and hour to the studio just record one or two songs. I think the struggles in the journey are what really makes the music stand the test of time, when I started doing music, I didn’t do it for money or clout, I did it because I love it.
Forever N September -what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Forever N September is basically a collective of creatives, comprised of artist, producers, painters, designers and photographers. I’m really proud and excited with what everyone on team is doing, we’re really putting in work. I can’t really say too much about what’s to come because I don’t want to spoil any surprises just know we got a lot in the works. I think what sets us apart is that we all work off of the love for what we do and we all want to inspire each other and the area where we’re from to create something that will last forever.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Haha, I was just talking about this the other day with a friend. I think my favorite childhood memory has to be Saturday nights with my neighborhood friends all meeting up at my house to watch Toonami and playing the video games.
