Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsea Cotton.
Chelsea, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been an artist, but it wasn’t until I moved to Atlanta that I decided to make art my full-time passion. I started as a student at Spelman College doing makeup in the dorms, and at campus fashion shows. After my second year, I decided I wanted beauty to be my full-time career.
I quit college, took a few makeup classes, and began working as a freelance artist. After gaining a small clientele, I decided I wanted to take my talents and career to the next level. I enrolled in Paul Mitchell and made styling hair more than just a hobby. I went to school three days a week and continued freelance on the side.
I completed school and received my cosmetology license early 2018 starting my new journey as a master colorist as well as freelance makeup and hair artist. My love for all things beauty leads me to launching my beauty brand “Everything cotton ball.”
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I’m a perfectionist, so nothing is ever good enough for me, and that has been my own challenge with myself… It took a lot of breaking myself down and rebuilding my self back up trying to keep a clear vision and not letting other peoples visions or perceptions affect my personal path and what I want to accomplish.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with everythingcottonball – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
everthythingcottonball is a beauty brand specializing in skincare/makeup, hair coloring and hair extensions.
I am most proud of what I promote which is always being yourself and finding your “perfect.” Everybody has their own perspective as to what “perfect” means to them. It’s all about finding out what it means to you.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I definitely plan on continuing to build my brand, expanding my clientele and allowing my creativity to freely guide me in a direction towards things that fuel my passion!
