Meet Chioma Okezie of Okyoufit in Marietta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chioma Okezie.

Chioma, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Hi, my name is Chioma Okezie and I am an uprising personal trainer! Fitness has always been apart of my life. Working out now brings peace and relief to my mind, body and soul. Back in high school, I did play volleyball but once I entered college, I wasn’t as fit but still active, I still tried to keep fit by running or going to the gym here and there but I was not consistent. I started OKYOUFIT because I felt like I lost confidence in myself, I looked healthy but didn’t feel healthy. I would eat about 1-2 meals a day, I was always tired and my body ached every day. My unhealthy eating habits motivated me so I signed up for a gym membership and I began going to the gym 5-6 times a week and eating 5-6 times a day (3 balanced meals and 2-3 snacks in-between time). I tracked what I would eat, what muscles I would work on in the gym daily and my progress monthly.

By March 2019, I went from 143lbs to 157lbs, toned and healthy! I realized what I could do for myself and decided that I wanted to help other women reach their own fitness goals. When I began training, I always knew that I wanted to help women adopt a healthy and fit lifestyle because I know how it feels to look good on the outside but not feel good on the inside. In the future, I plan to help as many women as possible by eventually opening an all women’s training gym. I want women to have a safe place to work out where they won’t feel intimidated or watched, an area that’s strictly for women and only women. I plan to continue growing with OKYOUFIT as the years go by. I am only getting better, slowly but surely.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Starting OKYF has not been easy but it has not been impossible either. I would say the most challenging thing about starting a business is consistency but once you get into the motions, it gets easier. Even though more challenges will head my way as I progress, I still remain confident in myself that I will overcome whatever comes in my path. With COVID occurring this year, unfortunately, I had to put training on hold until further notice and I personally had to restart my fitness journey because I lost over 20-25lbs in two months, which resulted to me losing most of the muscle and gains that I worked for. However, I knew had to correctly get back on track and so I did. Once I became consistent again, my fitness goals were easier to reach and shortly after, I began taking clients and filled up quickly.

Please tell us about Okyoufit.
OKYOUFIT is a personal training company that specializes in getting women the results they want. I’m known for growing your glutes while also keeping your stomach tight and right! I think what sets me apart from others is people can relate to me more and can be themselves around me with NO judgment. I’m just a 23-year-old woman trying to show people that you can still eat what you want to live how you want while still being fit and eating healthy! I’m most proud of the bonds I share with my clients, I love seeing how happy they are when they enter the gym and when they leave the gym!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would’ve started earlier. That’s the only thing I would change.
