Meet Chiquida (Kee-Kee) Lowe of Double Dipped Glam Studio-Squad in Metro Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chiquida Lowe.

Chiquida, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’ve always had a passion for hair, and beauty its started back when I was in middle school. I would practice on my myself and my babydolls. Then graduated to my little sisters and mother. I suddenly started building clientele with neighbors, friends and their mothers. My High School demonstrations were all on braiding with extensions and styling hair. I got my first shampoo assisting job at 16 at Raves Hair Salon College Pk, GA. I thought I was big-time then. The joy it brought me doing what I enjoy and receiving tips, and compliments from the clients. I knew that this was what I am supposed to be doing.

Senior year high school 1998 for Senior Skip Day at Welcome All Park. I was responsible for all the Bush Babies lol (braids with sew-in in the back). I was booming at this point. I then applied for hair school at Atlanta Technical College at the age of 19. They were full so I was placed on their waiting list. I decided to enroll in the Nail Program until the Cosmetology program had Availability. Best decision ever. Later I started assisting at TKO Hair Hall Of Fame. Where I landed my very first chair as a independent contactor at the age of 21. At 25 I was married and pregnant opening my first Salon where I partnered wit my best friend Qwentoria Dixon. Unique Reflections LLC Hair Salon in college Pk ga was my first baby. Opening the salon was a breath of fresh air for me and gave me the extra push and confidence to excel. It revealed my strengths to me. It also made me a believer, that I can accomplish anything in this world with God on my side.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My struggles along the way has been that of jealously, and people pretending to really rock with me for me, and not as an asset to them. Authenticity is soo hard to come by.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Double Dipped Glam Studio-Squad story. Tell us more about the business.
The name Double Dipped came from me not being just a hairstylist. I specialize in hair care, makeup and nail technology. I’ve also recieved Diplomas in Master Educator and Master Barbering.I am a teacher by nature. I’ve coached quite a few along the way. Many has received their cosmetology license while assisting me at Double Dipped Glam Studio. I simply want us all to win. All that I kno I share with the next. I’m a motivator, a mentor, and an encouragement to many. Ive taught classes at Bronner Brothers Hair Show. I’ve competed in competitions and had my work showcased in 6 Hotlanta Hair Directories in which volume 5 I made front cover of the magazine. So I’ve had my share of highs in the industry. I’ve created and built my brand on faithfulness and duration. I’m a firm believer that its enough clients out there for us all to eat and everything is better with two or more. Hard work, long hours, dedication and the ability to create has gotten me where I am today.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Simply blessed no luck. But then again, I would say my kids are my good luck charms Keonte and Tiona Anderson. They are the reason I go so hard. They are my strength and reason to continue making my mark. I just wanna make them proud and teach them this entrepreneurship way. My Profession has always been God’s business. He is the author and finisher of it all. And I give him all the praise and honor. LOOK Out World or continue watching because I am coming harder.
