Today we’d like to introduce you to Chivaun Philpot.
Chivaun, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started real estate after my husband and sister convinced me to get my license to assist them in purchasing their future investment properties. They said, “why not keep the money in the family?” At the time, I was a stay-at-home mother of two young children (a newborn and a seven-year-old) and I was dealing with postpartum depression. I have always been used to being a go-getter, and staying at home was really doing a number on me. At the time, I didn’t realize that I was actually dealing with depression, but once I finally gave in to them and got my license, I could instantly feel my energy shift for the positive.
Now, 5 1/2 years & 100+ transactions later, with five of them collectively between my sister and husband, here I am. A Top Producing Realtor & Member of the National Association of Metro Atlanta Realtors Million Dollar Club.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has not been a smooth road, but I always say that anything that is worth it is never easy. From trying to study for the exams with a newborn and the very real, baby brain… to choosing the best brokerage fit for me, to simply just attacking a market in a new place where I knew very little people. After all, I had just moved to Atlanta from Toronto, Canada a year prior to starting this journey.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Homes By Chiv story. Tell us more about the business.
Homes By Chiv, brought to you by ERA Sunrise Realty, is a Real Estate company that specializes in Residential Home Sales. I am known for being PATIENT. PERSONALABLE & PROFESSIONAL! These seem to be the common words used in my Customer Satisfaction Surveys. Just ironic that they all start with P and my last name is Philpot, haha.
I am most proud of the network that I have created over the years from scratch. To have people refer their families to me truly makes my heart smile because that means that they really do trust me. I’ve successfully helped six of my close friends close on their homes and that in itself is a highlight in my career because to have the people who know you most still trust you with such a major decision and investment is such an honor. I also have never received a rating of less than five since the beginning of my career (5 1/2 years ago). I hope I don’t jinx myself now, but I will continue to do everything in my power to maintain this level of service for my clients.
I know it sounds simple, but what sets me apart from others is that I am simply just ME! When you genuinely are a person that is patient, personable and professional by nature (not trying), then it comes naturally and people genuinely feel and appreciate that.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
No, I’m not lucky, I’m blessed. Yes! ~ Nicki Minaj. Haha… no but seriously, God definitely put me in the right place at the right time throughout my life and business on many occasions. He has given me the wisdom and intuition to make the right decisions (most of the time), and I am simply just grateful that I was obedient every time.
