Meet Chris Bostic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Bostic.

Hi Chris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a singer-songwriter producer now in the Atlanta area from Charlotte, N.C. I first started playing keys and singing when I was 10. It all kinda got started for me when my brother Ricky started producing. I was blown away by what he could do with a keyboard…it was next level. Since he and I are ten years apart, I used to ask him could I play his keyboard. I’ll never forget it. He had a brand new Yamaha PSR-32 that he kept under plastic. He told me “no” a lot, but sometimes he’d let me. Then, as time progressed, I started just sneaking in his room up the hall and playing it when he was outside or not home.

My parents raised us in church. I used to hear my parents say that “If you want something from God, ask Him for it and wait for Him to answer.” I was a kid man, I didn’t know how to put that into action yet, but I knew enough to pray in my own Kid way and ask God to help me. I just kept messing around until I got good. Fast forward, I played for the church for the first time when I was about 12. I used to watch and listen to Mrs. Patricia Barrino at Morning Star Baptist Church in Charlotte play the opening Hymn “Holy, Holy Holy”, After church one day, I asked could I try. Next thing I know, I had it down, So I started playing the opening Hymn sometimes for the church and playing for service. God truly does answer prayer…lol. I was playing with no outside assistance or lessons!

Fast forward again, I kept building on what I was learning, From playing and traveling with the men’s group of the church at that time – to singing with the Charlotte Metro Mass Choir, to playing for other contemporary groups, singing and learning to produce in the studio. I started my own group, Chris Bostic and Communion because while learning to play, I was also learning song structure and how to write songs. I released my first album 2008 entitled “Release the Oil”. We traveled everywhere man and honestly had an amazing run. I was offered a distribution deal with a label, but things didn’t work out. From there, I just kept playing, writing and producing and at this point from them to now, I’ve been blessed to do more than I could ever imagine and I’m nowhere near finished

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has it been a smooth road, nope not at all. There has been plenty of challenges. One of the major ones for me during that time was not having my own gear. I used to go to the music store every day to play keyboards that I wanted because I couldn’t afford one. My Dad purchased my first instrument – A Korg M1. It was Brand New but it got stolen. I would go in Sam Ash music and Reliable music in Charlotte and practice then go to whatever church I had to sing or play at. Fast forward, my Wife Karmel for my 30th Birthday got me one of the keyboards I always wanted – A Roland Fantom x6. That was 16 years ago. I still have it and will never let it go. However I am happy to say now I’m blessed to own more gear than I thought would ever be possible.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Musician and Music Producer and I specialize in Playing Keys (Lead and Aux) and Music Production. I’d say I’m known for writing playing singing and production. I would say what sets me apart from others would be my approach to song design, song structure and crafting music that speaks to heart of the listener.

I’m the owner of Communion Music Global Media / CMGM, which is my music production company. I have produced for several independent artists, and in between 2015 and 2020, I released four singles of my own “Do I look Like You”-2015, “Wonderful Savior”-2017, “New Place in You”-2020 and “Illuminate”-2021. The arms of God” Chris Bostic feat. [Shawn Bigby] – 2022. I’m happy to announce My New Album is 90 percent completed and hopefully, I’ll be able to share some new music from it soon!! It’s been a long time coming!

One of my most proud moments was working with General Motors and Demi Lovato at Disney World for two live recordings when she was younger. It was a great learning experience for me.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
My likes about my New City Atlanta – The diverse culture, it’s always something to do and the food is dope!

My dislikes about my New City of Atlanta – I don’t really have any, I’m still a new transplant – However, there is always room for improvement anywhere you go.
