Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Redmon.
Chris, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I decided to take a step of faith in 2008, to go into business for myself and family. It’s kind of crazy to leave behind security and benefits with a well seated company, to pursue the unknown. What’s even crazier, is I decided to do it in the middle of a stock market crash and downed economy. With a nonexistent building market, I decided to start my own architectural firm. I trusted God and knew that if I succeeded, it would be proven by his power and not my own, that I would. Through a lot of ups and downs, we made it through some tough times. I met one of my future partners as a client whom was a successful business man running a successful company, working on the design for his home in 2012. In 2013, we decided to start a build-design firm, incorporating another partner who is general contractor. We were profitable our first year, and have continued to grow and expand since.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t been easy. But I wouldn’t change a thing. One of my mentors told me once… ” Redmon, I rather try something and fail, than never try it at all”.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Artifex story. Tell us more about the business.
We have an architectural division, which incorporates a network of registered architects, engineers, and draftsmen. We also are a general contractor. Performing builds for the residential and commercial industries. Our residential builds are everything from small remodels and basement finish-outs, to full scale custom homes in the 7-figure range. Our commercial builds range from warehouse buildings to full scale industrial, with a focus on religious centers.
We are most proud of our integrity and transparency. We are held to a higher standard.
Our focus is relationship, which sets us apart.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
My role, and I speak for my partners, is to make a difference in the lives of others. To be grateful for our blessings and to treat our employees and clients like our family.
Relationship is everything.
