Meet Chris Triplett of C.Trip Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Triplett.

Chris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
A part of me believes Film and Photography chose me. I say that because this journey began as a hobby for me to clear my head during my baseball career. Growing up as a child, I peaked at a young age as a premier baseball player. Earning rankings as high as 8th in the state and 25th in the Nation. With that being said, all of my family and close friends believed my calling was being a professional baseball player. I was blessed to have my name called in the Major League Baseball draft during my senior year of high school. Due to a few circumstances, I decided to attend Georgia Tech on a full scholarship. My journey would continue through 2 college transfers and two more opportunities to play professionally but I believed God was telling me my true calling was in a completely different lane.

My journey led me towards Georgia State University, where I finished my baseball career and picked up a camera professionally. I joined the student-led organization called Spotlight, where I used my talents of video production, capturing concerts and events. I also worked for the Athletics, where I juggled being a student-athlete training and participating in baseball practice while also capturing sports photography at GSU football and basketball games. During my senior year of college, I had to make the tough decision to hang up my cleats and begin my Film Directing career.

I can only give the glory to God because, as soon as I made the walk of faith towards film, opportunities came out of nowhere, literally! I won my first film contest, top 3 in ChooseATL inaugural video competition, filmed for A-list celebrities to name a few (Ludacris, Migos, Future, SZA, Trey Songz, Drake, etc.) a few years after I graduated college, I began to work on a few films shown on BET, Bravo, VH1, Marvel Studios.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It definitely has NOT been a smooth road. Honestly, if the road is smooth, did you really learn anything along the journey? My first real struggle was having to decide to go professional or attend college during my baseball career. I still can remember the deep thoughts and the fear that kept me up at night thinking about how would I help my family prosper or should I better educate myself for something bigger down the road. My second struggle was having to let go of a dream for over 15 years of playing baseball professionally and to pick up another passion of mine but now having no choice but to make this hobby into a thriving career.

Being an entrepreneur in a city that seems like everyone is a photographer or videographer is extremely hard, especially enduring the long nights with low pay at first. The only thing that got me through and kept my mind positive was knowing that God was directing my path because I knew my talents were bigger than me. Honestly, because I keep God first, pray daily and do my best to stay humble, I see all of my struggles as stepping stones to my next blessing and the opportunity to reach others.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Today, I am using my talents as a video producer for GSBA, Georgia School Boards Assoc. creating commercials, conferences and highlight visuals across the entire state of Georgia.

I also am continuing to build my freelance business. C.Trip Productions LLC which specializes in capturing special moments that last a lifetime such as, (Weddings, Private Events, Corporate commercials/conferences, music videos and Travel Vlogs)

I’m most proud of the relationships with the people I have been able to reach and help their dreams and goals become a reality. That is what being a filmmaker is all about.

I believe what makes me stand apart is my creative ability to step outside of the box and to think of new and innovative ways that can attract an audience differently.

What were you like growing up?
I would consider myself an outgoing introvert if that makes sense. Growing up, I was a private person and kept to myself even tho I was friends with everyone I was able to meet. I enjoy having a great conversation with quality people and making as many memories as I possible can.
