Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Walker.
Chris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
We started out with an idea for one design for one shirt, Brotherhood Of Beast, for a weightlifting Facebook group that my husband is in. My Husband (Buck Walker) is the BEAST behind Beastly Wear. We noticed an interest in it and began creating t-shirts with a focus on powerlifters and bodybuilders. Eventually people such as coworkers and friends started reaching out and inquiring about custom designs and now the business is probably 50/50. We can and will customize just one shirt if needed. We do a lot of customization for birthday parties, family reunions, etc. I also design and create the apparel for other businesses such as Faria Athletics, located in Massachusetts, and even manage his website and online store I believe our customer service has really helped us. We are in direct contact with our customer from start to finish.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Overall, I feel it has been a smooth ride. I have certainly learned some things along the way and continue to learn something new every day. There have been some costly mistakes such as wasted material. I have learned to get down to the nitty gritty with the details of what the customer is requesting to avoid those mistakes.
Beastly Wear – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are a business that is focused on gym gear and customized apparel. I believe the customization sets us apart and makes us unique. Even our online store offers the functionality of adding customization. We will gladly add a name, nickname, company logo, etc. I am most proud of the customer service that we offer. I have built awesome relationships off of the sale of just one t-shirt and have had return business because of it. I am often referred to as “my favorite t-shirt lady”.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
To me success is not letting fear stop you. It’s more comfortable to stay in a familiar situation but little growth will come from that. I would rather try and fail, which could very well be the result of this venture, but at least I will not have the regret of not trying.
