Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Zajicek.
Christian, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I purchased my first DSLR and 35mm SLR around the age of 16 and have been in love with both formats of photography ever since. I began taking photos of everything I could and realized after a while that what I truly loved was taking portraits. I’ve made that my focus over the last few years and feel that my work has flourished in this area.
I began my career in makeup in 2014 and have used this extra step in my creative process to give my photo sessions the personal touch they need to bring my artistic visions to life.
Has it been a smooth road?
Every artist experiences a few bumps in the road. There was a two-year span of time when I thought I had given up on photography. I felt so uninspired and like I was stuck in a rut with my work. I still feel that way sometimes, but never allow it to last long. I’ve found that the key to staying motivated is to just keep working, keep learning and shooting in new ways.

I offer photography and makeup services. I am known for my portraits, many of which are of clients or models that I have applied makeup on as well. I enjoy being able to have creative control over my images and knowing how to use light both on the skin and through the lens. I like paying heavy attention to the tones and colors I use for a photo set. I’d like to think my ability to evoke emotion through the use of color is what sets my work apart from others.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Atlanta is a great place to get a start with photography. There are plenty of makeup artists, stylists, models, you name it, in this city looking for other creative minds to work with. And even if you’re not taking photos in the city, you can reach mountains, the beach, waterfalls, canyons, etc within hours.
