Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina LeBaigue.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m just a small-town girl from the Midwest who wanted to see and try everything. I’ve lived all over the country and explored several career paths from working in radio production, as a certified Doula and now a hairstylist. Over time I have come to realize that learning in itself is my passion and this field allows me to constantly do that. So a year and a half ago, at 35, I went back to school. I fell in love with the creativity of color but was told there was no money in vivids. Ha! Now, I’m working in a high-end salon that specializes in vivids and creative color. We never have a boring day.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I think perspective is key. Was it easy going back to school full time with three kids at home? Not exactly. But it was worth it. I’m lucky that I had family support from my husband and my cousin to help keep all the balls in the air. I’m lucky to have been able to make the choice to change careers when doula work became a hardship on my family. I always try to see the positive in a situation and it makes being tired a little easier.
Meg B White Salon – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I work at Meg B White Salon, where we are known for creating amazing color without compromising the integrity of your hair. Currently, we are in the development phase of a groundbreaking new space called Millieu that will not only house our salon but create a home for other artists and creators as well as providing a space for education. We love collaborating with other artists in all mediums to keep us fresh and inspired.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I both always feel successful and always feel like there is more work to be done. It’s only been four months since I graduated and I’ve had work featured by amazing brands and done collaborations with people I deeply admire but what is the fun in feeling like you’ve done enough? My goals are always evolving as they are reached.
