Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Ross.
Hi Christina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am a self-taught makeup artist and I came on the map December 2016 in my hometown Philadelphia. Every woman who has graced my chair always said ‘I wanna look natural as possible’ and I always would say ‘ok I’ll enhance your beauty’. Hence my cosmetic line that I just launched JULY 26, 2021 named ENHANCE ME BEAUTY. I cater to the woman who likes makeup but still wants to look natural as possible, whether she is applying it or the makeup artist. I want every woman to feel good in the skin they are in without feeling like the makeup is too much and altering how they really look. Just adding a touch of enhancements with my cosmetics will make women feel brand new. My best seller is my “BOSS GLOSS” for the women on the go who want a gloss that is efficient with that “glossy look” but not sticky. Boss Gloss is the go to gloss for you. I procrastinated so long starting my business because I was scared and comfortable (The money) with my 9-5 job until I wasn’t. I quit that job of eight years and had faith that GOD would lead the way for me and he did. I financed starting up everything out of pocket with just a part-time job. I designed my own website, researched every private label and made ENHANCE ME BEAUTY COSMETICS come to life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. There were times I doubted myself, I felt like I barely had support from people other than my close family. Before I launched, I wanted to back out. Money was tight and I had no sponsors and didn’t even know how to get any sponsorships. Some days I would have orders and some days no orders at all. Products not arriving on time and some products even being wrong. It’s not easy but it will all be worth it in the end.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a known creator/influencer. I am widely known as (Dimples215) on YouTube and TIKTOK and (Mayne_Atraktion) on Instagram and Twitter. I have mainly “Relatable” content and I am very transparent when it comes to talking about life. I share Mini Vlogs with my audience along with Skincare Routines and Shower Routines and of course Packing orders for my customers. But Vlogging has always been me. Sharing my world while talking to my camera then uploading for millions to see and that a lot of us are the same and can relate to one another. But all in all I am still a Makeup Artist 1st.
What matters most to you? Why?
Family matters most to me. Where I come from families are broken up, torn apart or jealous of one another. And being the oldest of seven children is hard but rewarding because you get to see your siblings grow up and look up to you. I have five brothers and one sister and my mom they are the closet to me and I always said when I make it out the hood, we all make it and I mean that. It’s always been us and still us, now including my 16 nieces and nephews. They support me to the fullest and my Mom is my ROCK. And last but certainly not least my Partner in crime (Not literally) Shana. Another one of my biggest supporters there when I feel discouraged and there to pick me up and remind me who I am. At every networking event, I can count on her to keep me on my toes and make sure I’m crossing every T and dotting all I,s when it comes to networking. And at the end of the day when we get home she always says, “You did that and I’m proud of you.”
