Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Sanders.
Christina, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
My father wanted a son, but by surprise I was conceived and was encouraged to consistently play sports. Softball and basketball were very important sports to my father. Being an introvert did not help me stand out at all, and it took a freshman in high school to take my number jersey in basketball for me to realize the sport had expired from within me. I was use to eating what I wanted, so when I quit basketball, I continued to do so. I gradually gained weight little by little and I remember being at my heaviest at 176 lbs. I was 5’4 at the time. I eventually went back into the workouts I was taught in basketball. After all, one thing I did stand out at was having one of the best counts in sit-ups within a minute. Fast-forwarding to college days, I never had the time (or personality) for a lot of friends. I was way too shy to go out and meet people, so I filled the void with workouts. Although my story sounds sad, I found a lot of JOY in working out. I begin to do my own research on foods that helped change the body. As I saw a difference in my body with exercise and eating healthy, I begin to have a lot more self confidence. I begin to talk up a little more. I begin to look in the mirror a lot more often and change other things. I recognized I had power. I begin to read a little more to change my inner thoughts. I begin to talk to God more. My relationship with my creator, health, and fitness started to propel me to identify who I was and who I was capable of becoming.
In 2013, I finally accepted the invitation for others to work out with me and charged them only $3 for a group session. After a few months, the participation fell off. I did not know how to run a business, nor market myself. The dream remained in my heart to help others with health, fitness, and self-confidence. In 2016, I launched 4 Life Fitness, now called Coach 4 Life Fitness whereas I promote having a strong mind, body and spirit-the prerequisites of really owning your best life. Currently, I have been working as a Store Manager at GNC for a year and a half now, and it has been so fulfilling. You better believe “I’m not done yet”. For services, anyone can now contact me for online coaching on my website at coach4lifefitness.com or on Instagram and Facebook, @4_life_fitness_.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. I lacked knowledge on how to run a business, and how to market myself. I also ran into hardships with maintaining my own healthy weight in the beginning.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Coach 4 Life Fitness story. Tell us more about the business.
Coach 4 Life Fitness is a business that focuses on promoting a healthy self-image inwardly and outwardly. I promote having a strong mind, a strong body, and a strong spirit as they all relate to making the best decisions you can to help become your best self and have your best life. I am most proud that when people are coached by me, they are left empowered. They feel like they can conquer anything.
What sets me apart from many other trainers is that I focus on a total change. I believe if you focus on the physical only, the results are temporary. If you focus on the total package of the mind, body, and spirit, your whole life changes, and you make it a lifestyle change-4 life.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the next 5 to 10 years, I see myself having multiple coaches doing online coaching with me and I also see a studio in the future for face to face coaching.
