Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Wilson.
Christina, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been working in the bridal industry over the course of many years. It all started with my capstone project in college where I developed a concept for brides to create custom bridal gowns at a fraction of a cost by way of technology. Through the years, I became a bridal consult at a luxury bridal boutique in Buckhead and transitioned to Day Of coordinating. I started out by referrals only and have worked with couples in Orlando, Fl., Atlanta, GA, Washington DC., and New Jersey. After seven years, in 2020, I officially made The Day Of With Christina a reality! I’ve been able to sharpen my skills, develop a seamless process and offer the couples I work with a true hands-off wedding day experience.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. I’ve dealt with people telling me that couples won’t see the “need” for what I offer, that couples can “just hire a wedding planner,” or my favorite, “Don’t you already have a real job?” It isn’t easy to have an internal battle with your day-to-day “big girl” responsibilities and trying to figure out how to incorporate your dream(s). For several years I have put off investing in my dream because the words of others were louder than the confidence I felt like I had. In 2020, I reached the point where I wanted to give myself an honest effort! I have the skills and I’m genuinely passionate about pouring into couples and for them to focus on their special moment as I focus on over other moment.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a day of coordinator for weddings. I specialize in organizing and managing the full wedding day. I’m known for my attention to details, and crisis management. The Day Of With Christina has a suite of services that couples can choose from based on their wedding day needs. What’s great about my services is that they can stand alone or be paired with a full-service wedding planner if the couple has hired one. What sets me apart is that I have experience working with brides during their wedding planning process. This allows me to leverage those experiences and incorporate them in the business model I have developed to service the couples I work with. My niche is DIY couples. Those couples that are planning on their own and need a professional alongside them, as I do offer add-on options and for a coordinator to manage the details of their special day. My services and product line truly allows the couple to have a hands-off wedding day experience.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The wedding industry is a multi-million dollar industry. Think about it; no matter the size of the guest list or budget; it’s about two people choosing to do life together for ever! This means that the wedding industry is not disappearing or downsizing anytime soon. Yes, we’ve seen trends over the years. From dress styles, the concept of a micro wedding and television shows that bring couples together before they even meet but that doesn’t keep the end goal of two people becoming one. Thankfully, that allows me, as a day of ordination to continue to evolve and stand out with my skills and craft. I’m really excited about the product I’m currently working on. Shhh, I can’t tell you yet; just know that there isn’t anything like this on the bridal industry market yet. My hope is to service all types of couples for their special day. For the couple that doesn’t have a budget cap and looking for a more extravagant wedding day, to those that are DIY couples and are looking for a more intimate ceremony; The Day Of With Christina will be considered a one-stop concierge option for couples.
