Today we’d like to introduce you to Christine Roberts.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Christine. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Childhood friends, my business partner and I grew up cooking together and with our Italian Nonnas. After half a decade in corporate America, I decided it wasn’t for me and applied to culinary school at the International Culinary Center in New York. After completing their Italian program, where I studied in NYC and Italy, I returned home to get married and began working to gain more experience in Atlanta-area eateries. About this time, my current business partner and best friend returned to Atlanta and we founded Squash Blossom Kitchens.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have been lucky to have had a relatively smooth road to where we are now. There have been the obvious growing pains, learning to run a business and stretching to meet the demands of larger and more frequent events. I think that the largest struggle has probably been learning to balance everything with the addition of children to our families, but with both of our overly organized personalities we have been able to juggle the raising of children with work.
Please tell us about Squash Blossom Kitchens.
Squash Blossom Kitchens is a boutique catering company dedicated to providing the perfect meal for any occasion. Our inspirations are rooted in Italian cooking styles with a touch of Southern influence and all dishes are created in-house using the freshest ingredients possible. We pride ourselves on providing both artfully executed plates and a very personal customer service experience. All clients get to work directly with us which has enabled us to create great relationships around the city.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my fondest childhood memories is making fresh pasta with my Grandmother. It would take all day, but I loved every second, from rolling out the dough, hanging the noodles over broomsticks under the fan to dry, and, of course, the late night pasta my Grandfather would whip up for dessert.
