Meet Christopher Roblesz of Math N’ More

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Roblesz.

Christopher Roblesz

Hi Christopher, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey with Math N’ More has been quite an exciting one. I founded Math N’ More with the aim of providing scholars with an innovative approach to education that goes beyond traditional methods. Starting back in June of 2020, our mission was clear: to offer students an alternative educational experience, support families with valuable resources, and assist schools in delivering equitable education to all students.

Over the years, I’ve poured my passion for mathematics into this endeavor. From my early days in NYC in 2009 to serving across various schools along the East Coast, including Achievement First Bushwick Middle School, District of Columbia Public Schools, Miami Dade Public Schools, and The SEED School of Miami, my dedication to empowering students through math education has remained unwavering.

In the context of this year, 2023, our efforts have seen some remarkable developments. As highlighted in our pi day 2023 survey, a significant portion of participants found our event to be excellent or very good. The feedback from our participants has been invaluable, with many praising the organization of the event. However, we’re also conscious of areas that need improvement, particularly in terms of post-event cleanup and contest winner selection.

Moving forward to Summer 2023, Math N’ More took a bold step by launching our inaugural free tutoring program. This program aimed to prepare scholars for the upcoming 2023-24 school year across various grade levels. From elementary to high school, we covered a range of subjects, utilizing online platforms such as Google Classroom, Google Meet, Class Dojo, and Edulastic for assessments. The engagement from both scholars and parents was truly inspiring, even though we encountered occasional communication gaps.

Overall, our summer initiative showcased the collaborative growth of students and demonstrated the impact of Math N’ More’s commitment to education. As we continue this journey, I’m thrilled to see our efforts making a meaningful difference in the lives of scholars, families, and schools alike.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Unfortunately, the road to establishing Math N’ More has not been without its challenges. One significant hurdle we’ve faced is the ongoing impact of COVID-19. The pandemic has presented obstacles in terms of program evolution and marketing, especially when it comes to engaging with parents and families virtually.

Moreover, a core aspect of our service is providing math tutoring to scholars. However, we’ve encountered difficulty in conveying the value of proactive academic support to parents, particularly those from minority, low-income, and underrepresented groups. Often, parents realize the importance of such support only when their scholar is struggling significantly, and by then, it might be too late to intervene effectively.

To address this, I’ve been strategizing ways to connect with parents more effectively, such as attending school PTA nights to showcase the positive results that come from our interventions. It’s an ongoing effort to bridge this gap and ensure that parents understand the crucial role they play in their child’s education.

Despite these challenges, I remain dedicated to the mission of Math N’ More, continually seeking innovative ways to overcome obstacles and provide valuable educational services to scholars, families, and schools.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Math N’ More, we are dedicated to revolutionizing the educational experience for scholars, families, and schools. Our primary focus is on providing comprehensive and individualized K-12 Math support to students, empowering them to excel both academically and personally. What sets us apart is our commitment to going beyond traditional educational services, creating a holistic approach that extends beyond tutoring sessions.

We specialize in tailoring our instruction to each student’s specific needs, helping them build a strong foundation in mathematics. Our scholars receive personalized guidance based on their current coursework, ensuring that they not only succeed in school but also develop a deep understanding and appreciation for math.

One aspect that I’m particularly proud of is the emphasis on family involvement. We recognize the critical role parents play in their child’s education, and we strive to provide families with the tools, techniques, and resources they need to support their scholar’s learning journey. This proactive engagement sets us apart from others in the field and contributes to our holistic approach.

Math N’ More is more than just a tutoring service; it’s a comprehensive support system. Our efforts extend beyond the classroom, as we actively engage with schools to provide coaching, feedback, and systems that contribute to equitable education. Additionally, we take pride in fostering relationships and mentorship outside of instructional sessions, creating a sense of camaraderie and support for our scholars.

Our offerings include K-12 tutoring, college math preparation, teacher certification math prep, IEP/504 consultation for parents, college advising, and consultations. We also take pride in our free tutoring programs and innovative approaches, such as our online classes that utilize platforms like Google Classroom, Google Meet, Class Dojo, and Edulastic for assessments.

In a nutshell, Math N’ More is all about empowering scholars to achieve their fullest potential in math, building confidence, and providing families and schools with the resources they need for success. Our brand is synonymous with innovation, personalized instruction, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the educational landscape.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
While many people may be familiar with my work at Math N’ More and my passion for mathematics education, what might surprise them is my love for aviation and travel. When I’m not immersed in the world of numbers and education, I find solace and excitement in flying and exploring new places.

Aviation has always fascinated me, and I find joy in taking to the skies whenever I can. There’s something incredibly freeing about being up in the air, navigating the skies, and experiencing the world from a completely different perspective. This passion for aviation complements my dedication to education, as it reminds me of the boundless possibilities that both learning and exploration can offer.

Additionally, my favorite vacation spot is Grand Turk, a place where I can unwind, recharge, and indulge in the beauty of nature. This love for travel allows me to experience diverse cultures and broaden my horizons, ultimately enriching my approach to education and connecting with people from all walks of life.

So, beyond the world of mathematics and education, my interests and experiences extend to the skies and the far corners of the world, reflecting a multifaceted approach to life and learning.
