Today we’d like to introduce you to Cici Coffee.
Cici, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started in a brokerage firm that sold Natural Body and Beauty care to mainly mom and pop vitamin stores. Thirty-two years ago stores like Whole Foods did not exist and selling makeup to nutritionists was extremely tough! The commission payout to me was the highest in the make-up category and I knew if I could get the store to highlight me as an artist, I could sell six figures easily on a Saturday.
This was a lot of money, so I after a few successful events I handed in my notice and went to work to raise funds while cleaning houses and post-construction. I was determined!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Lots of late nights and hard work! Getting someone to believe I could do it and loan me the money was also tough. There was no other business to compare it to for the bankers to understand. The opportunity that made Natural Body unique for 20 plus years was our retail store which had opposite seasonality, providing a steady cash flow and helping us successfully weather the recession.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about SkinReMEDI by Natural Body – what should we know?
SkinReMEDI is the renewed Medical Spa division of Natural Body Spa and Shop. In 1999, Natural Body Spa and Shop made the decision to discontinue its partnerships within its medical division. The decision was based on the devices of the time being noisy and painful. Fast forward 20 years and – thanks to industry advancements – we have returned vastly improved as SkinReMEDI.
We are dedicated to achieving a natural look at SkinReMEDI. Our mission is to be the “ReMEDI” for skin health and wellness in need of improvement. We partner with every patient during our initial consultation and actively listen to their concerns, treating every client/guest with the highest quality medical aesthetic treatments and products. We are committed to delivering exceptional results with a team of some of the most credentialed and skillful physicians and nurse practitioners in the Southeast – all delivered in a safe, relaxing and comfortable environment that honors our guest’s unique needs.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My partner Celia Tully is heading up the SkinReMEDI movement and I could not do it without her. In addition to her, I have an amazing corporate team. I give them all credit for our journey – many have been with me for close to 15 years and I would never have stayed this strong and focused without them. Finally, our approach to sustainability and environmental initiatives has kept us involved with a circle of local leaders who keep our journey about health and the environment real!
