Meet Cindy Lucas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Lucas.

Cindy, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
For the past twenty-five years, my journey as a professional photographer has given me the ‘eye’ to know which of those many wonderful scenes in life, special moments that only happen once, can be captured and preserved. That is the beauty—the purpose—of photography.

I am that soft shutter click beside you, behind you, above you, or below you (as elusive as those very moments that pass so quickly), capturing, preserving in time, and allowing you to revisit in photographs, as the years forever move onward.

I have always had a love for the art of capturing photographs, starting at an early age, I was the family photographer. In school, I was on the photography-team. On to work, Sales and Services, which landed me in marketing on the media team. The company loved my eye for details, and I quickly moved up the ranks absorbing and learning every step of the way. Corney? Yes! I was in training and getting paid to be where I am today!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been an ever-changing road, as any road worth traveling will be, and should be, with seasons of sometimes heavy traffic, roadblocks, or miles and miles of fair weather smooth sailing down country lanes that suddenly empty onto avenues of hazardous black ice, then a detour back onto the main road. As Maya Angelou so famously said, “I wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now.”

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Cindy Lucas Photography story. Tell us more about the business.
Mostly, I specialize in portraits; I love people and the unique beauty found in each of us. A lot of my clientele are seniors and grad students, models in business, actors building their portfolios and family portraits; Weddings and special events. What makes Cindy Lucas Photography stand out from the others is the outstanding work–the art–that I create along with getting to know each client and providing the personal touch to details. My business is built entirely on referrals, word-of-mouth from other clients.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Each and everything that happens in our lives happens for a reason. Whether it is to teach us or to teach someone else, it happens for a reason, orchestrated by the God who created and loves us all. There are no coincidences. Good fortune, but no good luck. Misfortune, but no bad luck. God places us where we need to be, and at the time that we need to be there. I am blessed to be doing what I love.
