Meet Clara Campbell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clara Campbell.

Hi Clara, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I fell in love with makeup about 5 years ago. I was playing in makeup one day and I was like this looks nice on me, then that one single day turned into many days of practicing. One evening after work I had a deep conversation with myself and asked what would I enjoy doing for the rest of my life… Then the first thing to my mind was makeup.

At that time, I was working on my Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Management and working full time and I thought … How can I make this possible?? So I started looking for makeup training courses and the institution Industry Makeup Academy is where  I received my certification. I had an awesome experience and met some beautiful people. I had breaks in my journey were I started makeup then stopped, so in the recent years, I said I’m going to make the best of my gift and now it’s starting to show.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s been some struggles for sure. Trying to build on your business and still maintain a balance with work, school, personal life. Sometimes you can lose your drive because you’re dealing with circumstances that can make you less focused on your craft.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Ironically, I work in accounting. I absolutely didn’t know anything about accounting 2 years and I decided to stick through it and teach myself something that I would normally just run from because it’s to challenging. I’m proud of myself for not walking away, but more proud to say that I ended up going back to school to obtain my Masters in Public Accounting in which I’m set to graduate next fall! I realized that I’m different because I’m handling so much at the same time and most will say they couldn’t do it.

How do you define success?
Success comes in different tiers. You should celebrate your success every day. If you seek to challenge yourself to reach a goal and you completed it, then that’s success. Go with the choice that scares you the most… because that is the one that is going to help you grow.
