Today we’d like to introduce you to Codi Christina Robinson Soto.
Hi Codi Christina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started Braids Milk And Honey May 23 of 2018. I remember till this day, me and my now husband were researching names. Braids Milk And Honey came into existence when Me, my mother and sisters were having issues with our hairs’. Also, I wasn’t feeling my job I was employed at the time. Something else was telling to go elsewhere. So I did.
I finally put my business name together and my concept. A few days go by and my husband gives me $150 towards my business. He’s always believed in my dreams.
Everything started with natural ingredients. I was all in with my products being all natural for Black Women’s hair. We need nutrition if you want healthy hair. My first customer was my best friend from Philadelphia.
The journey from then to present day has been rough, Braids Milk And Honey will forever exist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Over time, I have faced products expiring sooner than expected, which caused me to go back and out more research into my craft. So I kept going and formulating. There have been impatient customers, this challenged my Customer Service skills.
There have been days where I would run out of money for ingredients and I would be stuck like how am I supposed to fill these orders, I would give up at the moment, but God and encouraging words from my husband pulled me back up.
As you know, we’re big fans of Braids Milk And Honey. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Codi Christina Robinson Soto, I am the Owner of Braids Milk And Honey. My brand stems from Science and Herbal led ingredients. This sets us apart from others because we believe in the power of natural ingredients and formulated research. I am proud that I never gave up on myself and my brand. If I would’ve gave up both ways, there wouldn’t be an us. I would love for all readers to know if you are a small business owner yourself; take risks! Believe in yourself and your brand. Don’t stop researching. I am three years in after rebranding twice, don’t give up!
Also, before starting a business, don’t start just to start, find your niche, have a concept, write it all down and research.
Currently in our item catalog, that can be found via Instagram, products are available for purchase.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Pray, have Faith, Keep going!
