Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Garrett.
Cody, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Coming from a household where your Mom is a single parent only makes you want grind harder because every kid wants to be able to take care of their parents especially when your mom is independent and strong. I was blessed to have a parent take me out of a city where it continuous failure due to lack of strive and “following”.
When I first moved to Georgia with my mom and little brother my first plan was to play basketball “You tall, that’s your sport, better get a scholarship and go to college” thats what most family members say not really knowing where your passion is. Modeling was mentioned to me several times by my mom; which I overlooked and said: “Thats not me” this was me judging without really knowing I could really end up loving taking pictures for a living. I eventually set up a photo shoot with a classmate who was starting photography, after I seen the results of the photo shoot I realized yeah this is what I want to do. Which then I began sending nonstop emails to agencies and putting forth effort to my craft!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Me personally feel as if when trying to get to a place or a level of success you want there is never going to be a smooth road, as Booker T Washington once said “Success is to be measured not so much by position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed”. There are times when I slack and don’t send out submissions or take pictures but I remember the reasoning for this all; which usually gets me back in sync.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Cody Garrett – what should we know?
With modeling, I can say I’m proud to have grown this far with being comfortable with taking pictures and now being recognized by commercial brands; recently Champion has noticed me and also a popular street clothing brand by the name of Zamage. With Social Media being the “thing” at this moment of time I plan to use this as my platform till further notice.
