Meet Constance Echo Palmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Constance Echo Palmer.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a circus artist and instructor based in Atlanta. When I was 18 years old, I was working at the iconic R. Thomas Deluxe Grill on Peachtree when a guest at one of my tables asked me if I wanted to be his assistant in a show. The guest was Howie “The Great” Marmer, a magician and good friend to Richard and Jimmy Thomas. I agreed and everything escalated from there. At this point in my career, I have performed as a magicians assistant, body art model, fire performer, dancer, and as an aerialist. I have performed all over Atlanta for over ten years, as well as toured nationally for the past three seasons, two of which with the rock and roll cabaret Cherry Bombs and most recently under the big top of a traditionally American circus. Aside from performing, I have a great passion for teaching. I directed The Space: A Movement Arts Studio In west Atlanta from 2014-2018, founded the Atlanta Aerial Arts Festival in 2016, and produce a quarterly scratch performance night called Open Grip. I continue to teach in Atlanta and beyond when I am not performing.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth doing is ever easy. Though there have been struggles along the road, I try not to focus on the negatives in life. All I can say to anyone trying to make it as an artist or as a business owner is to stay true to yourself and your vision.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a performer, a teacher, and a producer of shows. I don’t have one passion that dwarfs the others. I love being on stage as much as I love teaching artists to be on stage, or providing a stage for artists to be on.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Though I believe luck is a factor in business I believe that your network – your circle, plays a larger role, especially in a city like Atlanta. It’s no coincidence that we call it the biggest small town and that shows in how the communities of artists support each other in this town.
