Hi Corey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Established in February of 2014, Celestial HANDS Massage (Club) has dedicated itself to becoming a premier Membership Driven, Private, and Upscale Massage Club. Drawing inspiration from esteemed private clubs like the Commerce Club, Piedmont Driving Club, Buckhead Club, Ansley Golf Club, and other exclusive Atlanta establishments, we have crafted a vision that combines the world of massage and spa services.
The Celestial HANDS Massage (Club) understands the high standards set by these prestigious clubs, particularly when it comes to customer service. As the Owner and Chief Therapist, of our massage club.
I have made it my personal mission to ensure that our customer service is always on a superb level. With over 10 years of operations leading a dedicated team of 5 talented massage therapists, I am proud to have received the John Jordan Award for Private Club Management from Georgia State University’s, Cecil B. Day School of Hospitality Administration in 2013.
This award was the launching pad I needed to create my own Private Club organization.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Since our establishment in 2014, Celestial HANDS Massage has been dedicated to exploring various marketing strategies to determine what resonates with our audience. Throughout the years, we have received a great deal of feedback, both positive and negative, which has helped shape our brand. We understand that it is impossible to please everyone in our marketing efforts, but we certainly make the effort. We value the input of all our members and clients and take their feedback seriously, making necessary adjustments to ensure we meet their needs.
In 2019, we introduced several new marketing strategies, including the launch of our Celestial HANDS Massage “MENS” underwear line. We spearheaded this effort because men make up a huge percentage of our clientele, due to our strategic focus on Men’s Sports Therapy. But, we’ve made a conscious effort to feature more women in our marketing campaigns. Prior to this, it had been challenging to convince female clients to participate in promotional video and photography shoots.
We understand that massage is a private experience, and our female clients are typically less eager to be on camera compared to our male clients. Therefore, we always ensure that their modesty is respected and maintained throughout our marketing materials.
Through this medium, I would like to address two key challenges. Firstly, the perception of massage as a luxury. While we offer high-quality and personalized services, we want to emphasize that massage is not just a luxury, but an essential part of self-care and overall well-being.
Massage is often perceived as a luxury that is only reserved for special occasions or as a response to a specific injury. However, it is important to recognize that massage should also be seen as a preventative maintenance practice. By incorporating regular massages into our routines, we can effectively prevent injuries, alleviate anxiety and tension, and improve blood circulation. These benefits extend beyond just physical ailments and can address a wide range of troubles.
Secondly, as a male spa owner, I have encountered challenges in building initial trust with women who have had past traumatic experiences In massage therapy with men. Yes, many women have shared that revelation after the fact.
However, in order to establish their trust, I have made it a priority to go above and beyond. One way we have achieved this comfort level is through our marketing visuals. By showcasing what a day in the life at our spa looks like, and sharing client testimonies from both men and women, we have been able to overcome these hurdles and establish a sense of trust with all of our clients.

What’s next?
We are excited to announce that this April marks our 10th year anniversary at Celestial HANDS Massage. In celebration of this milestone, we will be hosting our highly anticipated Trifecta Event, which takes place every 5 years. While our business was officially launched in February 2014, we have chosen to commemorate this occasion two months later, coinciding with our Owner’s birthday celebration.
Looking ahead, we have ambitious plans to raise awareness about our exceptional services. We will continue to collaborate with local content creators to cross-market and reach a wider audience. Additionally, we are actively exploring opportunities to expand our presence in the Midtown area of Atlanta. Our long-term vision includes national expansion to cities such as Washington, DC, Detroit, MI, Houston, TX, and several other locations known for supporting and nurturing Black-owned businesses.
