Meet Corey Thomas of Boardwalk Cafe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey Thomas.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Born and raised by the Jersey Shore our boardwalks had the ability to brighten up anyone’s day. Funnel Cakes, Cotton Candy, Candy Apples, Popcorn, Icees or snow cones could all be purchased from one concession stand. I knew that the business model worked, and with Atlanta’s weather, I knew I could put smiles on faces while earning a living.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
This process seems smooth now, but I was apart of two different ventures with two different partners, and two different locations. Those businesses didn’t  make it due to a lot of reasons, but I didn’t  lose I learned.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
The Boardwalk Cafe has worked with and partnered with organizations like PayUsa, AP World, The Lou Williams Foundation but you can catch me every summer as the Concession Vendor of the Atlanta Entertainment Basketball League.

I am in the business of good eats and big smiles. I am extremely focused on the customer and I make sure my pricing is always reasonable.

The thing I am most proud of is, I get to bring my children to work and show them that they can make a good living while doing things the right way!

What were you like growing up?
I was taught at an early age to be business-minded, I cut grass, I had a paper route, I cleaned my neighbor’s pools, and I was once suspended for being the candy man at school.

Entrepreneurship is apart of my DNA!

I was always interested in marketing, and my products and services go well with Grand Openings and Customer appreciation days.
