Meet Cory Armstead of Cheap Eats Atlanta in Sandy Springs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cory Armstead.

Cory, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I had humble beginnings in Atlanta, Georgia. I have always been into the food culture, but never had a chance to truly experience it. My family wasn’t privileged to be able to frequent nice restaurants. My Mom and Dad made the best of what they had. I’m thankful for all of those experiences. Fast forward June 2016, I wanted to start a blog about food. What really gave me my foodie spark was when I saw a local Atlanta woman post a Facebook live video at a BBQ restaurant. In the Facebook live video, she walked into a local Atlanta black owned BBQ restaurant and told the owner that she was buying a hundred plates. The owner was shocked! It was a Godsend. I remember the owner looking like he had seen a ghost. It was amazing! The video ended up going viral and the BBQ restaurant was flooded with new customers. I had the opportunity to sit down with the owner and discuss his background in BBQ. That day, I became a true foodie.

Has it been a smooth road?
No, it hasn’t. I have had many obstacles along the way. I still have a long journey ahead of me.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Cheap Eats Atlanta story. Tell us more about the business.
Cheap Eats Atlanta was created to food deals in the Atlanta area. I strive to find the best food at the lowest prices. It’s all fun and games to me and still more of a hobby than anything. I want to keep it that way.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
As far as food blogging, I think it will continue to grow.
